Default another cam help thread

So I've lurked here for about a year but I have a question being the previous owner did some mods alot of people arenot doing often.

I have an 05 cts v ls6. Mods are as followes. What he did: FAST 102 intake. FAST fuel rails. Match ported heads to intake. Ls2 injectors
What I did: long tubes high flows cats and MagnaFlow exhaust. Volant intake. All the BMR rear end upgrades. 25% UD.

Now I'm not sure what cam to run with that big huge intake that will take advantage of it but keep low end torque usable..
Emmisions are not an issue. Cost isn't an issue but let's keep it reasonable.

what gears. what trans. converter/clutch
what does the car weigh. what do you use it for or want to do with it.
there are plenty of sponsors you can call for a cam suggestion
EPS, Tick Performance, Texas Speed, Cam Motion, Ed Curtis, Brian Tooley

Sorry I forget I'm not on the caddy forums not everyone knows specs.
T56 with a stage two clutch..
3.73 rear end.
And she weighs 4k.

I was looking I to the Texas speed ms3. But was unsure if it would be a good choice for such a heavy car.

I'd stay away from that camshaft. You want a cam that's going to make good power under the curve and has a nice flat torque curve.

FAST 102 picks up everywhere, that's some kind of myth that won't die on the losing low end torque.

I'd do something like a 228/232 111+3. Ed Curtis Street Sweeper, Spartan Performance Cam, or an EPS cam with those specs would make a lot of usable power for you.

Ed Curtis has a little 224/228 on a 111 LSA that would make that heavy thing move out. Seems to work well in the GTO's.

I'd keep the intake lobe size(@.05") in-between a 223-229 and the lsa in the 110-112 range.

Do you want a mild or heavy lope, or does it matter ?
What rpm range would like to see the most hp/tq gains ?
How high do you regularly spin the motor ?

226 LXL intake and 231 HUC exhaust on a 111. The 228/232's are great ( I have one on 110+1 ) but those older xer lobes are a bit louder than the new ones. And 110 is a bit trickier to tune at idle than the 111, if your tuning it yourself.

Talk to some of the vendors mentioned in this thread as well as sponsors to the right >>>. Too many variables to pick a cam by internet vote. Ask the people who design and or sell them for a living. FWIW, I run a Cam Motion grind designed by Spartan performance in my heavy GTO. It is the perfect cam for my car and how I drive it. You might want to give Josh a call at Spartan Performance and see what he recommends.

Hey thanks for the reply guys.

I took a look into the Texas speed 228r. Seems to fit in all your rwccomendations. Isn't to pocket heavy. Either.

I'm getting a set of pac1218 springs. Will I need a set of pushrods as well. Already have a timing chain and gaskets. I plan on having lethal racing down in Lafayette LA install and tuning.

The 228r can be hard on valve springs and lifters because of it's fast ramps.
The 226 LXL intake and 231 HUC exhaust on a 111 that Jenson suggested would work well with the 1218 springs; it would be my pick for your CTS. 224/228 w/ 111 LSA would give more bottom end, the 228/232 111+3 Would give more power at high RPM and is a favorite of the F-Body street cars.
