Default LS head coolent blockoff broken inside

On each side of these 799 heads I have there looks to be a broken nipple from the block off in each side of the head. I just had them sent out to be cnc ported and when they came back they still had these pieces in them. Is this normal or did they forget to extract them? Also how shall I go about getting them out of they are indeed stuck in there? Thanks

Normal. They're plugged from the factory. Put that end on the back side of the engine.

When I removed mine I just took a punch and hammer and drove them out from top to bottom, they came right out

They're already blocked off. No need to mess with them unless you want to put a crossover there.

GM bolts a block over the steam ports with a nub that pokes into the hole. If that nub is broken off in the head like that and you don't fix it, the nub can come out and cause a leak.

With the head off the engine, you should be able to knock it in then shake the head until it drops out.

Ya but thats not what this is lol. New casting heads have a plug pressed into them like the op's. Its not broken thats the way they come from gm I've had a few sets of heads like this. They're ready to go unless he wants to add a crossover. Gm stopped using coolant plugs like the one in the pic quite a few years ago and just did things this way

If these were pushed out in motor with heads on can the pins be removed out the water pump or what how? Thinking of doing this to mine when I found my heads were like this any suggestions.

Are you sure it's impossible? Where will the pin plugs drop to if pushed them in with heads on car I might can push it through but will I be able to get them out? Anyone have some input on this.

Why would you want to take them out?
