Default ls1 stroker 383 or ls3 bolts on

Hi everyone,
I have an impala 96 already swap to ls1 & t56 for now I want to have more power , my goal is reach between 550 to 600 hp & I thinking for more tq also. but I want reach that with daily car just few weekend street drag race, it's important that I can drive the car every day , so I have two ideas to make that but I don't know which one is better & cost me less . budget is open but if I can save some of it why not ,my ideas is :
1- stroker 383 for my ls1 (maybe add supercharge in the near future)
or
2-swap to ls3 bolts on .
I don't want to use big cam in either way.
which way is cost me less that other , how much it's cost me for each way ?

As far as power goes a 383 stroker with a good HCI will simply stomp all over a LS3 with just bolt ons. As far as cost....well that would depend on many factors. If you want power, and can afford it, going the 383 route will be best. Unless of course you do more than just bolt ons to the LS3, but I realize that is not an option for you based on what you've said

thanks man for sharing , I think 550 or 600 it's very good in b-body & if I want more I think I well have so many complicated & problems for daily car (what you think ?).even if I think to get supercharge in the future it's better with ls1 stroker than ls3 stock internal right? or the ls3 with stock internal better ? . the last question it's about the ls1 stroker : I'm confused which way I should go in stroker I read if I want to use supercharge I should built my engine with low compression but if I want to go n/a I should built my engine with high compression so what I can do with this ? if I go with low compression how it's goes n/a ? or if I go with high compression & then have supercharge how it's goes ? .sorry for so much questions

Stock LS3 with a cam and boltons will probably make more power than a 383 with just mildly worked heads, a cam, and everything. The LS3 will also respond to boost better. The heads are just way better and the bottom-end is strong enough for 600rwhp all day.

If you pair the 383 with some really good heads, it can make very similar power on and off boost. The upside is it can take a lot more boost and make a lot more power. NA you can probably get more torque and power with a smaller set of heads on the 383. Remember, the LS3 is 376cid. So they are the same size motor. The LS3 has more bore, the 383 has more stroke. The LS3 has more headflow, but the 383, with aftermarket heads, can flow more than the stock LS3 heads with a smaller port. But you're really spending some money on a forged assembly and aftermarket heads.

You'd be better off doing a 416 or a 427 LS3 based stroker with TFS LS3 heads worked by Frankenstein Racing or Tony Mamo. The cost would be similar to a 383 with TFS 225s or so. The difference could be anywhere from 40-75rwhp more on the LS3 setup.

If you can make the choice now for forced induction in your future build a 10:1 compression 383ci - ls1. If your more likely to to stay N/A go with a higher compression LS3... 376-416ci .

How much power do you have experience with?
600hp you are talking about a 10 second car.
How setup is the rest of the car to support such?

I see but I think swap to ls3 cost so much just swap stock ls3 cost 7500$ I saw that in other thread that without bolts in , is it worth it ? (doing a 416 or a 427 LS3 based stroker with TFS LS3 heads worked by Frankenstein Racing or Tony Mamo. The cost would be similar to a 383 with TFS 225s or so) ok but that without the cost of the swap from ls1 .
I know ls3 will give me more option in the future but I don't think I'm going over 600 hp at anytime with this car . I thinking going with stroker 383 with small turbo or supercharge cost less that ls3 bolts on & cam is that right? .

I think go with 383ci-ls1 with forced induction cost me less than swap to ls3 bolts on & cam right ? . the power depends to the forced induction type .

I had 93 turbo mustang around 500 hp but it's not for daily drive I just use it in drag race .
I have a viking coilover , stage 2 clutch ,maybe upgrade the whole suspensions too , upgrade the differentials .I think that will handle such as power .

I don't think a 383ci would be cheaper VS the LS3 but you would make at least 100+ more hp when its all said and done. The cost will be up to you on what parts you put together, what type of forced induction, new VS used, how much power you want, ECT...

Do you understand a 600hp Impala is a 10 second car if it vaguely works? 550 is low 11s pretty easily.
Are you prepared for a rollbar and such?
You post about the Mustang proved the point I was trying to make.

Stick with what you have and make incremental improvements and you can add a lot of power before you go looking at larger displacement. Displacement is about the most expensive way to make HP up until you have exhausted other avenues.

Heads and cam might add 100hp for say $2300, recycle the current heads and a larger cam onto a 383 shortblock and it is going to cost more than twice that by the time you buy the shortblock and cam, gaskets etc. and with unmodified stock heads it will make less power than the stock shortblock with good heads. Now of course you should use ported or aftermarket heads on the 383 and pretty soon the price is through the roof.

Once the LS1 is daily drivable 11s in the quarter then it might be time to begin considering the other options you are looking at, till then you are just plotting poor decision after poor decision.

Not the answer you want but FWIW based on the performance I have put together a 500hp NA b-body, that might just mean I have applicable experience.
The LS1 can do it with better manners.
Not that my LT1 manners are bad, damned thing still gets better mileage than my bone stock Sierra 5.3l.

I think upgrade the whole suspension , 2 wheel limited slip differentials can handle that rear wheel power, honestly it's just an idea .

let me tell you why I skip this options from my mind : first things I did 4 car with cam & ported heads setup before ,now I try go beyond that . second it's about other car in the street most of it are +430 (ls2,l99,l77 bolts on & ported heads & cam , charger srt 6.4l bolts on , ls3 stock or bolts on , lexus isf bolts on) so if I went with cam it's should be big cam & I don't like big cam it's hard to daily drive in traffic & it's still get me 400 ,450 hp way far from that's other cars ,with small cam I think the best offer is 380 hp.
(if I can beat this cars with few bucks sure I will be very happy but I can't see how).

That's is the best way to build power but also that's way I think about ls3 swap(I know it's can be daily drivable without any problem but the cost so high when you think it's still stock bottom & stock heads)

No that's is the best answer for me I like it when someone correct me or give me more options maybe I don't think about it & make me save money ,your answer get all my respect (I'm here for learn & share ).
