I installed a relatively stock LQ4 with a GM Hot Cam in my 2001 Silverado 2500HD truck. I also ran the Comp Cams trunion arm upgrade kit and Hi-Tech 7.4 chromoly push rods just as a preventive measure. Upgraded timing chain. etc. After the swap I was amazed how much more power the thing had. The sound from the cam was exactly what I was looking for. It was near perfect. Lol. Unfortunately, like it is for all us gear heads, it was great for one summer and I have found myself wanting more power. I am wondering what would be a good head to run on this thing. Im very satisfied with the cam so I would like to continue to run it. Any input would be great.

I'm not bashful about how much it will cost. lol. I know how much the stuff goes for. Im just looking to have a good reliable set up while achieving the most power I can.

A great cathedral head will help out.... tfs or afr would get my top two pics... Also another cam will help you out. It's a lot of cams been proven to add power over the cam you running now that's close to the same size as that cam you running.

High end AFRs worked by Frankenstein RH or some Mast cathedrals.

Those are all easily over 3k though, but will get you the most power.

I've seen this name come up a few times and got curious so I googled
Frankenstein Heads , they're certainly out of my price range but I was looking for ideas for my home port project. The intake port on these confuse me, they seem to break all the rules. I've heard there is nothing to be gained from removing material from the port floor or the area where the injector sits yet these are opened up. The port seems to be twisted. There seems to be some swirl ramp left and I can not see the bolt hole left from removal of the rocker boss, though most say there is nothing to be gained from filling it.

Sorry MikeBriz, I didn't mean to divert your thread. So tell us about your exhaust, headers, intake, etc.

Some ported 5.3L heads would work pretty well. The LQ4 engines have a dished piston, so the smaller chambers of the 5.3L heads would get the compression ratio up over the large chamber 317 heads that are probably on there now.

TSP/PRC Ported 5.3L Heads:

http://www.texas-speed.com/p-4345-pr...-outright.aspx

It's $1350 with the 1518 Single Valve spring kit (or you can select none and run the ones you're using now), and it'll add quite a bit of power from the bump in compression and flow. It's also not a huge port, so it keeps velocity up for the truck and will add usable torque for you.
