Default LS1 Buildup, which cam?

I have a third gen Firebird that will be getting an LS1 in the near future. I would like to see at least 400 rwhp when all said and done. I purchased a donor 2000 Z28 with a rod knock. More than likely I will purchase a good low mileage short block and use that. I have stock 243 heads an LS6 intake that I will be using. I am not 100% sure what cam is currently in the car but I was told it was a 224 cam, possibly a TR224/224 with 112 LSA. I was told the current PCM is tuned for the cam it has.

The exhaust I will be using long tube headers with 1 7/8 Primaries, 3 inch collectors going into a SLP Loudmouth catback. I plan on using the stock LS1 fuel pump or a Walbro 255.

The transmission will be a T56 with a LS7 clutch and the rear will have 3.42s

My question is what cam would be a good cam that operates well within the flow limits of the LS6 intake. This will be mainly a street car that is driven frequently. I am open to looking into intake and head work, but would like to keep this affordable.

Hi got an 02 z28 with yank 3600 4.10s texas speed magic stick 4 cam 239/242 @.50 609/ 649 lift engine has 1 3/4 long tubes no cats and magnaflow exhuast and a 85mm air meter , a true cam only car ,just got it back from turbo technology (Tacoma Wa.) they tuned and dynoed it . It made 397 hp at the rear wheels at 6500 rpm (about 475 at the flywheel). The magic stick 4 is a great camshaft that also works well with manual transmission cars too, it is a little choppy but behaves well in traffic and sounds fantastic.On saturday is the first Drag race of the year up here in Seattle and after that I am sure I will be joining the 11 second club ! LOL

im having the comp Xtreme RPM XR265HR .Not a real lumpy cam
But big torque curves from 1800 to 6000 rpm. Here is the article....I will let you know how mine turned out in a couple of weeks. Heres the SuperChevy page.....it is very helpul Hope that helps

Why not run it while you sort out the rest of the swap. That is a very popular size for a reason.

I need to rebuild my block first or by another one, and I didn't want to swap cams twice. I am not against it though. Thanks for the idea.
