I know how you feel. When my MMS 427 fell apart in under 500 miles I was ready to chuck the whole car off a bridge. Instead I sent it to Mike at More Performance and he rebuilt it with a C5R block and lots of other new parts. I've got almost 8000 miles on that engine now and it runs ******* great. It uses just a bit of oil now but I think that's going in the intake and the PVC catchcan is waiting to be installed. The only problem I've had is a crankcase vent hose blew off the intake after it was powdercoated. The thing gets 17MPG on the highway at 14.7-15 AFR and puts about 450 to the wheels. That will soon change with the addition of TEA heads which are done and waiting to be installed at TEA.

When your engine is done and done right your going to cream your jeans everytime you step on the gas and forget about the mistakes in the past.

Hmm...glad i live in the south. I see a lot of trouble with the ls1 hot rodding shops up that way. And another reason I build ALL of my own stuff. If it takes me 6months longer I do it myself. That way I can't blame anyone but myself and I don't end up having to get midievil on someone over it

Yeah, but how many blocks did you go through in your car before you got this one?

Mine was built in 2001. Back then dropped sleeves were pretty common.

One. My last one I blew up at Bristol in 2001 with a 350 shot of NOS. There were no aftermarket main studs available and the stock TTY bolts let go. That's when I decided to go all motor...

How did coolant destroy the head gaskets???? screw dex cool or green coolant. Get some Toyota "red" coolant.

As far as the coolant goes with the gaskets, this is what I was told by Steve at R.E.D. There was dexcool installed originally and it was changed out at 475 miles or so. The car never ran hot, just was leaking terribly from the drivers side head. I am getting the Cometic ones and running NPG from the getgo this time. I also got the NPG Water Pump and stat as per Steves reco as well. This is supposed to help with the flow of coolant. I should be up and running around end June. The heads are already on thier way to Absolute.

Well I got an update on the motor. Seems to me that the bad news never stops. Guy says that the block has one sleeve that is ruined. It has deep scratches in it. They cant be removed by honing so that means block has to be shipped back to RED and a sleeve replaced. The scrathes are also on 2 pistons so now those are dead. Looks like the relutor wheel wasnt clearenced 100% and that some debris was inside the motor. I am SERIOUSLY broke and I have no moneyto fix this. I am in contact with JPR about MONEY as he WILL be footing the bill to replace sleeve and pistons. I also curiously have some parts MISSING from my motor. NO BILLET MAIN CAPS or ARP Mian STUDS. I PAID FOR THESE!!!! I will post more info as it becomes available. Later Bear
