Default BTR .660 lift dual valve springs on stock lq4

I won't be doing a cam swap until at least next year but this year I will be having fun with a stock lq4 up to about 6000-6200 rpm. I've read that the factory valve springs are junk past 5400 rpm so I am definitely upgrading. Are there any negatives to using the .660 lift rated dual valve springs w/steel retainers combined with hardened pushrods on a stock cam'd 6.0?

I was originally going to get pac 1218 valve springs but I want to use the BTR stage 2 turbo cam next year so the pac 1218 springs would be no good combined with that cam....and obviously I don't want to be buying springs twice

Besides being expensive and overkill, no there's no issues running those springs.

But you will eventually be cammed so that's ok.

Why would you want to start wearing out good springs now?
Granted the stock can is mild but once you go aftermarket can springs become a wear item, why start wearing them now?
I would do LS6s in the meantime.

Is the stock engine even doing any good up in that RPM? Doesn't it peak below 5,000 rpm?

If you are worried about the stock springs put some ls6 springs on it. You can probably get pulloffs dirt cheap or new ones for $60 or less.

I agree with Caprice and Thunder. Throw some new LS6 springs in for the time being (BTR sells those also)

Like they said, no point in putting wear and tear on good springs and other components (like stock flimsy pushrods)

Sounds good on cheaper springs in the meantime. I didn't consider a lifespan on the good springs. So in other words if I was cammed right now with that btr stage 2 turbo cam (.605/.598), with this being a street car, how many km on these springs before they're worn out and causing float?
I doubt I'll even make 5000 miles a year on this motor as the car sees 3 months of driving a year if we're lucky in my region.

With stock valve springs no there's not much happening at that trpm due to float close to 5500 but everyone that has upgraded valve springs reports strong pull past 6k. Shifting at 5k in a th400 3 speed would drop the rpm pretty low after a shift.

Don't put .660 lift springs on a .600 lift cam. Get some .600 lift springs. Too much coil bind distance is not good for the springs and valvetrain.

These look like they're all I need then
Any idea if these work with factory 2005 lq4 retainers?

Thanks and I just checked but the ls6 springs on Brian's site are currently unavailable (same price though). I'll splurge on Brian's site for my stage 2 turbo cam kit and LJMS page for my t4 s400 so the future is looking good. Thanks again for all your help people.
