Default L33 to ls1

So I've been doing some research and saw that it might be possible to take the L33 aluminum block 5.3 to a ls1 bore and run it as a 347. Is this true? Is there any special rods I'll have to run if it is true. The trucks got some pretty mean piston slap so I'll have to do something. Anyone that has done this would be great, I'd like to know how it's running, or any other info would be great. Thanks

I got a rebuilt motor from a vendor here. The block is a L33 block. It's running at 347 cid. Runs the same if not better than my original LS1. I did put different heads on it and a different cam, but everything else bolted right over.

Yes is possible to take L33 aluminum block 5.3 to a ls1 bore but WHY?
A 5.3 l33 can make more power and with better durability then any stock ls1 block.

She has really bad piston slap. I'm boring it anyway so might as well go big

Do you plan on putting boost to the block?........ If so I'll keep as much as cylinder wall as possible.

No I plan on keeping it N/A if I wanted to boost something I'd get a iron block and run a little more boost.

Do you know if they use an ls1 rotating assembly? If I was to get everything for an ls1 and bore it over as long as I matched up reluctor wheels it should just drop it right?

I got the Thompson Motorsports 5.7 stock rebuild. It's what I could afford and it's only my daily. I have 317 heads, LS6 cam, stock intake, and stock manifolds. The compression is lower because I didn't mill the heads. I haven't done any dyno testing on it, but it's making more power than the stock motor did. I may do heads and a different cam later, but it's not in my plans just yet.

On a side note, I did have an issue with head bolts. I wound up using ARP bolts that are the same length for the large bolts. The rebuild kit i got came with the two different length large bolts. Make sure you know what set you need before getting stuck when you try bolting the heads on.

Man this is awesome! I really appreciate the input. I'm looking at a tsp rebuild kit for an ls1. Should just drop right in. I was going to run arp crank bolts and head bolts, slip in a 228r cam and then port and polish my factory 799 heads making them almost identical to what came on the ls1. Have you had any problems with it since you've done it?

No problems in the first couple thousand miles. I have to replace my radiator as mine cracked yesterday, but I don't consider that due to the engine. For all people put down the LS6 cam, I kinda like it. I don't need much more as it's my daily, but I always want more. I'm stuck in California and I gotta deal with smog crap, so I gotta be kinda easy on this one. I guess that means I'm "stuck" with AFR heads, FAST intake, and a small"ish" cam. No crazy hp daily driver numbers for me.

I got kind of lucky with that. They don't do any kind of smog inspections back home so I'm pretty free to do What I want as long as my wallet can handle it.
