Wipe it down with oil or ATF. Marvel Mystery Oil works well too. That motor should have been coated with oil before it was stored.

You can use a wire wheel and something like WD40 to clean it off. A machine shop can blast if off too. I had a BBC blasted, cleaned, and checked for cracks for about $80.

Wire brush it off. The problem will come when you try to seal that area. That corrosion will make a pitted and irregular surface.
