Unhappy May have lost Engine

Well for that past few weeks my car had started acting funny, as in sputtering in low rpm acceleration. Well I thought it could have been a plug or something, until the problem had recently gotten a lot worse as to where if I tried to cruise in 6th gear on the freeway the car would start to shake really bad causing me to have to keep it in 5th where the rpm's would be higher. And my entire exhaust note had change and I noticed a dramatic decrease in power. So I took it into the dealer and come to find out I bent my damn Intake Valve in the #3 cylinder and pretty much put a hole in my piston. The mechanic at the dealership is supposed to pull everything within the next couple of days to see if there is damage done to the block. Which would really suck. Well I guess I can use this as an excuse to go Stroker.

Damn dude that sucks, did you over rev or go lean? Any idea what could have led up to this happening? Yeah, blowing an engine is probably the best excuse to go to a stroker motor Some people want to blow their motors so they can say, "well, might as well stroke it now " Good luck, keep us posted on the outcome.

you may have no damage to the block if you are lucky, maybe just a dimple if anything to one of the pistons, I bet you get the valve issue straightened out and all is ok.

were any of the springs broken? Or did the valve somehow just happen to hit the piston?

Yea the valve was bent by over reving the car. Mike, that's what I've been hearing from a lot of people is that the block is probably still fine. I will probably end up giving Brian a call at APE here within the next few weeks. Also none of the springs were broken. I'll keep you guys posted as I find out more.

How the hell did a piston hit a valve with those heads?? Even with over revving shouldnt there be plenty of P2V clearance for this to not be an issue? Just curious?

And that definitely sucks. Good luck.

This sounds a lot like what was happening with one of my friend's cars. He drove it like that for a little while since his problem was intermittent, and ended up chucking a rod through the side of the block.
