Help identifying this engine Am I the only one that noticed the block is an 1168?
Did they make 5.3 1168's, cause it's screaming 5.7L to me... Even though it says 5.3 on the front.

I saw that lol. What I think is that instead of making a dedicated 5.3 and 5.7 aluminum block GM just continued production of the 1168 block since they are still making crate engines and bored it to 5.3 specs. If you notice 5.3 is engraved on the block instead of cast in like other years. They probably just make on block now and dont bore it as large, so in essence you could probably take that block to a 3.9 bore
