I'm not talking about off idle, I'm saying cruising around. If you getting cam surge from lets say 1300-1600rpms and you pull timing to get rid of it...that's 30hp or so your down in that rpm range.

At idle sitting at a light the cam is fine..i've had no problems with it there at all.

side note if I decide to break my build up into 2 pieces. What kind of power/ times can I expect with tSP 1-7/8 LT , catless y, SLP Lid, slp LM exhaust, and some 4.10 or 4.56 gears ? and a tune
im an M6. also what are people revving at on highway speeds like 70-80 in 6th with the higher gears?

power should be 340-360whp low 12 sec car maybe touch 11's with a little weight loss.

I run 3.90s and spin 1950 at 80....i think 4.10s are a little short. first gear is never really used as its so quick. the 3.90s are a good middle ground between 4.10 and 3.73

gotcha so i will look into the 3.90 and 4.10s thanks !

I think I am going to do this in the 2 parts as mentioned.

because I would like to do poly mounts, and some suspension work as well so that gives me the opportunity to do it and then save up for the H/C/I portion down the road.

Being an auto car I dont experience that low of an rpm with any load on the engine. I would say however, if driving a manual with a decent sized cam I would not expect stock cam manners and probably wouldnt lug the engine down that far anyway. I guess its all in perspective.

In the manual cars ive ridden in with reasonable sized cams they drove near stock, most had gears as a supporting mod. With bigger cams, I wouldnt expect the manners of a small or stock sized cam. There is a certain point where a cams manners become a cams manners. Nature of the beast. The clarity part was when I said perspective. I used the word stock twice and thats where you got confused. I should have said "tame". Big cams can be tame. Meaning smooth low end, no bucking, no surging etc. But no way way a big cam will pull the dead nuts low rpms that some people are used to by a stock setup.

Whatever...all I was saying is with the toquer cam it's a bitch to tune and you'll end up pulling timing to get rid of the surge. I know cuz I've been all over it with my tuner. I've ridden in cars with cams in the 240's on both sides that ran better / easier to tune than them. That's all i'm saying...damn.

Fair enough. What is it about the torquer specifically that causes this? Did your tuner expand on the WHYs of all of it. I'm honestly curious.
