It is Texas Speeds parts. Buy it directly from them. I will say I bought some stuff from Hawks and never had any problem.

What cam? I have that package with the torquer v3 and numbers in sig. I have all supporting mods though. I would upgrade to their as cast heads, I think it's another $100 or so. They also have the torquer v4 cam now on softer lobes, same as the v3 otherwise. With 3.90s it pulls pretty hard off the line.

I have the prc 5.3 heads with a cam almost identical to the MS3. If you're running the right gear and/or trans it works awesome

some other questions/thoughts... since Im in there I should change the oil pump, the timing chain/gear (obvi) etc; what are some good choices on that? I am pretty set going with the 5.3 2.5 heads/cam pack from Texas-speed. just trying to price out all the supporting mods as well and decide what cam

I personally wouldn't do the ms4 unless the car is a dedicated track car and even then there are better choices. The ms4 is a proven grind but requires compression, and a lot of hearing to work well since it makes power up top.

If you're worried about sound, don't the exhaust has a large effect on how a cam sounds and pretty much any small-medium can will chop pretty well.

Personally I'd look at the torquer v4 it's very similar to the v3 but the lobes are smoother and will make for an easier job on the valvetrain.

For an oil pump a ported ls6 or HV/HP melting unit will work nicely and is affordable. For the timing set, just get a new gm ls2. It's more than you'll ever need and is cheap. If you wanted to I would pick up the trick flow timing chain damper, that's far better money spent than on an aftermarket chain

TSP 1-7/8 LT headers , catless y-pipe , SLP LM1 , SLP lid , poly motor and trans mount, MGW short throw shifter , 4.10 or 4.56 gears, the 2.5 5.3 head/cam pack from texas speed.

Just an FYI on the torquer cam. They are hard to tune....I've been to my tuner 3 times to smooth it out and it still runs a bit rough. Usually they will have to end up pulling timing to get it to idle real good. That means less power for you. I like the cam but would not get it again.

Sorry bud but you can pull timing in just the idle region and that wont effect timing while you are driving. It sounds like you and your tuner dont know what youre doing. Ive ridden in enough cammed cars and I tune myself so I know most cams can drive basically like stock. Anyone who says different, well im not sure where things went wrong for you on that.

Ya pulling timing at idle doesn't mean anything when driving. There is an idle table and the minute you hit the throttle it hits the main spark table. The torquer cams are harder to tune than any other ones that size.

Yeah...I've had it both ways. There is still a dead spot when timing is pulled at that rpm.
