IIRC those run a bit more quiet with 1.5 to 1.75 turns of pre load

This, op .050 will work on ls7's but most run them around .065-.080 preload to keep them quiet. IIRC .047 preload is about 1 turn of the rocker so Ar's specs should be about right to get that preload. Also now that you say the valve job you could get different pushrods for one side. Again though if you didnt its not the end of the world but you may get a little noise on one side vs the other. Ls7's have .200 travel so a difference in preload isnt that terrible.

Alright. I'm going to play around again tomorrow and see what I come up with. The 7.450's got me closer to 1.5 turns.

Maybe just to clarify for my own sake, too: I start counting rotations after the lifter is seated on the valve stem, correct? Meaning at exactly the point where the tip of the lifter won't click any when moved up and down, but can still move side to side?

As an update: putting the checker to 13 turns (including my preload), I seem to get between 1 and 1.5 turns until 22ft lbs.

So I'm thinking 7.450 is the length to go with. The 7.475 gets me to 1.5-2 turns depending on the cylinder.
