Default how much power do you think

so a friend of mine has beat me to building his 6.0 motor, curious to what he is going to make power wise.. here are the specs,

it is a stock bottom end 6.0 lq4 with
voodoo Hydraulic Roller .531"/.531" Dur.@.050 212/218 LSA/IAC 113/109
cam also came with
Lifters, Valve Springs, Retainers, Locks, and timing set
hand ported stock heads
3 angle valve job
super victor efi intake
ported stock throttle body
shorty headers, into a y with 3 inch exhaust (he hasnt decided on a muffler yet)

he has not bought injectors or an oil pump yet either

going to be with 3.73 gears, posi with 4l80e. he needs to get a converter..

questions, what size stall for converter?
what size injectors? (going to eventually do 408 bottom end and nitrous)
and what kind of oil pump?

will the shorty's hold him back alot? he got them because he got a deal on them. plus eventually he wants to also go turbo or twin turbo so he has to get new ones then anyway..

also how much power do you think it should make??

thanks you hope to hear your advice and input..

IMO cam isn't big enough, shorty will hurt, at the wheels hp? I say 380 rwhp.

thanks, i dont think he ordered the cam yet, but he was also thinking of getting one of the tick polluter cams, 242/244 | .61x”/.61x” | LSA112 i think were the specs i have written down from him here in front of me, but he thought it may be to big..

he wants to spray 100-300 shot once in a while down the line when he can afford a nitrous kit. he would like to eventually do the forged 408 bottom end and keep the same cam.

im trying to get him on the site also haha. thanks

what cam do you think would work for the car?

how much hp do you think will be lost from shortys/mid length headers opposed to full length??

appreciate the input

I bet a good 15 to 20 hp from the headers. Best thing to do is call up Martin from tick and get a spec cam especially if he wants to go larger cubes down the road. Also if it's a street car I would get quality 4k stall.

I have the voodoo 212/218cam in my 5.3. It is a nice cam but you will definitely wish went bigger with a 6.0. The tick cam is a big difference from the voodoo cam. I would definitely call martin at Tick or Kip at cam motion and have them spec you a cam.

What's his HP goal? Heads might end up being what he him back.

Cam motion has a Titan 5 grind that might work well for the 6.0. IMO the polluter will run fine IF you have LT headers. That amount of overlap needs the scavenging from the headers

not sure what his hp goal is, but i was just curious to what kinda power it would make.. I think if i were him i would ditch the mid length headers, i know he mainly got them because they were a good deal, so im sure he could resell them!

you said the heads might hold back what?

thanks guys.. im surprised he has not got on here and chimed in yet, he must be down the shore for the weekend i guess!!

Stock hand ported heads aren't bad but they won't run like aftermarket heads like MMS. That tick polluter and other similar grinds can move a tremendous amount of air as long as the heads allow. When he steps up to the 408, I suspect those heads won't be enough to keep the beast breathing. Alternately, a screaming set of heads like the MMS220 on that 6.0 could get him over 500 rwhp and negate the need for more cubes

Anyway that's all off topic but clarification to try to answer your questions. I think if he builds the combo in the OP he will be around 430 at the tires give or take 10-15.
