Default racing for years ..new to ls1 power ..need advice

Know how to make big power..been racing outlaw radial for years..but now putting together a nice 01 SS for the street-strip..doing a 408 iron block build..all forged..finished to 11-1..ported 243s..fast 92..dont have a cam picked out yet. Headers i have are 1-3/4 w/3 inch collectors..car has built t56 good clutch, moser 12bolt w/410s and all bmr susp.as well as a nos system with an FJO controller..question i have is are the headers sized ok and where is the best place to size a cam?

If you can do 1-7/8 headers it's worth it up top. For the cam, call Kip Fabre at cam motion or Martin Smallwood at tick performance and discuss your goals with them.

If it's just going to be a street motor I wouldn't go crazy on the cam and use the 243s. If your looking for max effort id ditch the 243 and go with a aftermarket casting. In order to run the 243 your gonna have to run something like a 8cc dish to get compression down I assume the 243 is milled some. I ended up with 11.5 comp 68cc head and .040 gaskets and a -3 piston. You'll make good power either way but if you want a rev happy motor the heads may hold you back. And id look into some 1 7/8 headers. Even with the 102 intake 247 heads and 251/259 cam I'm peaking around 6500 but I take it to 7000 roughly through the traps but I can feel it stop pulling harder.
