Default my first ls

I'm building my first ls based motor, just curious how you guys thinks these parts will do together.
Ls1 block , stock crank, scat h beams, male flat tops. Heads 862 with stainless valves, stock size exhaust , 2.02 intake, ported, roller rockers, trick flow springs. Cam is 232/234 , .595/.598 on 112. Have a stock truck intake and injectors. How do you think this combo will perform? Any advise will be appreciated. Any idea what kinda power this will make?

That is the TSP torquer v2 cam. with ls1 displacement and ported 5.3 heads and that cam through a manual i can see it doing 430-440 with no problem. Id ditch the roller rockers and run a set of stock rockers with a comp cams trunion upgrade instead.

What other supporting mods do you have?
7.400 hardened pushrods (standard but measure anyways to be sure)
ls2 chain
ls6 oil pump are some minimal & basic supporting mods id go ahead and do while your doing the work

Do what everyone doesn't do and buy a rearend first. It will be the first thing to go once you get some power in that thing.

He says it has a truck intake so clearly not going into a 4th gen.

Wtf does that have to do with anything? I know plenty of people who swap LQ motors into 4th gens.

It's actually going in a 94 ford ranger 4x4, built 350 turbo, 9 " rear spool and a locked dana 44 with 5.38 gears on 38" tires. Ive got chain, pump, and hardened pushrods, and had the stuff to do trunion upgrade and found half of my rockers were junk so got roller rockers

OK sounds about right then the cam setup will make alot of torque which youll need. Ive personally had terrible luck with yella terras and harland sharp rockers breaking.

15-20, assuming constant compression. 243 would require milling to get same CR as 862. In my mind it would be well worth the difference.

Well that's good to hear. This whole thing started off as putting a 5.3 in a ranger with a cam and port work and 4.8 pistons. Had a buddy give me a ls1 block so I bought new rods and pistons i want the ranger as l8ght as possible. Well now I'm buying 89 chevy 2wd shortbed so 5.3 is gonna go in there. So I need a intake for the 5.7 would a tbss intake be much better than a truck intake

The trailblazer ss intake is very good. I have a 6.0 in my S10 but I went with ported ls2 to keep the stock hood. Truck intake too tall.

Ranger is set up for truck intake so tbss should be no biggie, 89 is a full size so tons of room

If they are both equally worked over there is about a 10 hp difference from what I've seen
