Say like a 30mph kick in first gear really jerks you back. It drops then. If I just slowly raise the rpms up all the way to redline it holds 70+ psi. If I rev it up in neutral it does just like normal. It's blatantly obvious that its oil sloshing to the back of the oil pan. I have to keep the oil completely topped off and it won't do it. I have between 3/8"-1/2" of clearance between the pickup tube and oil pan.

Don't know what else I could do.

Yes it does sound like oil slosh. We don't typically see that issue under acceleration until you get to really fast cars, launching with slicks and popping wheelies. But these pans definitely starve more easily when the oil level is low. GM recommends overfilling by 1 quart for performance driving and we recommend overfilling by at least 1/2 quart with the baffle installed.

Well 570 to the tires on motor does it I guess.

Hey guys, I'm putting together a $10K - $15K motor but I'd like to save $20 on my oil pump. Any thoughts on those ported Melling pumps on Ebay? How about Craigslist?

This is an easy port and polish job. I bought a porting kit from Standard Abrasives and went to town. Good DIY project that should help with cavitation and flow.
