Default Torquer V4

Well the time has come for a new cam in my C5. I'm looking hard at the Texas Speed torquer V4. I like the specs on it. I ran a TSP 228R in my Camaro back in the day and loved it. I'm going to put good heads on this car in the future, when I have the money for it. I know this cam hasn't been out long, and before I pull the trigger on it, I would like some feedback. What lobes is this cam on? I'm thinking 400rwhp is possible with this cam and stock heads and LS6 intake. Am I crazy?

If you are going to do some really good heads later on why not consider a cam that might be more specific to those heads. I mean after all why but top dollar heads only to have a cam thats not possibly best for them

Titan4 from cam motion. Gentle lobes, better core, good broad powerband.

FTI's StreetSweeper HT will give you that with better lobes for the valve train and better street manners. I made a little over 400rwhp with my LS1 GTO back when I was headers, stock heads, intake, LS6 mani and tune. I got to around 440rwhp with it and the addition of a 102 combo and ported 243s before I stroked it.

I second the Titan IV, my roommate just put one in his trans am and it runs hard, sounds great, and drives perfect.

The Torquer V4 is another good choice, I simply refuse to ever use a Comp Cam core in anything I own ever again. I've personally pulled 4 failed cams, 2 of which were in my own car. I'd rather pay a few more bucks up front than have to replace the cam twice.

If you would like to order the Torquer V4 cam let us know when ordering. We can have it ground on a Callies cam core if you do not want to use a Comp core.

Is there a difference between all of them? I know Ed uses lunati and told me he hasn't see a failure (or if he had he'd sure stop using them), but they're all owned by comp right?

I'm leaning more towards the Streetsweeper HT now I think. This car is just a cruiser for me anyways. I'm not looking for max power and crappy street manners. I'm not looking at running the 1/4 mile too often. I may never put heads on it. I think that cam will be perfect for stock heads and LS6 intake. I'm more likely to put a suitcase in it and drive it up to Lake Tahoe for the weekend and turn heads when I pull into the resort. Side note, I found that Cam Motion has .120" wall thickness pushrods for $160. That seems pretty sweet! Seems like they would be almost as strong as .375" without having to machine the pushrod bores.

The difference between the Torquer 4 and the 228R is 5rwhp. If street manners is your primary concern I would simply run the 228R cam.
