My butt-o-meter is pretty sensitive and even setting the fuel cutoff at 7,000 I can't feel the power drop off ether although it gets there so quickly there isn't much time to tell. BTW Tony I don't know if you heard me cursing your name when I dropped that oil pump bolt into the pan. . .

The street manners are very good. I don't see much difference in that regard from my old cam, just what I wanted. The higher overlap is making my exhaust a little smellier at idle/low rpm but that's it.

I have to get back into the rocker covers as it seems to have tapping that I think is abnormal. Changing cam and rockers make it a little nosier? To be safe I'm going to recheck the rods. I have Lunati (Morel) high rpm, short travel lifters so the preload is pretty light too. I'v been reading that the block grows about .010 when hot and maybe that has something to do with it. Like I said it pulls up to 7 grand in a heartbeat and I have to be careful in the first three gears going WOT or the back end wants to pass the front.
Damn you and your 93 octane gas that I can't get hold of! I have to run at 24 degrees timing.

What size is your cam again?

I don't know if you have played with this too much, but typically, the throttle follower and cracker tables will help with the coming back down to idle surging. Also, the PID can be tweaked. My proportional idle air is lower than stock. my Integrator air is higher than stock, and my derivative air is WAY higher than stock.

Also, idle spark timing settings. I found that if the idle spark adjustments are really high, the engine will surge really bad, but lower numbers seemed to help quite a bit.

I've also seen where people set the idle timing in the 30's, which makes it impossible for the adaptive idle spark tables to really even be effective.

I still remember that first time I pulled to 7K, and it was the coolest thing ever. Then, you get used to it, but it's still a blast.

He spec'd me a 235/240 .620/.615 113 +1 cam. I told him I wasn't looking for a dyno champ or drag car but a really strong street one. I did adjust my throttle follower table a little but RAF and VE fueling helped the most.

As far as idle timing i used the scanner VCM controls to try adding and subtraction timing in 1 degree increments to get my lowest manifold MAPs and then when returned to normal watched my idle adaptive timing to see about where it averaged out too.

As far as your tick make sure you don't have an exhaust leak somewhere. I had what i thought was a lifter tick but after further investigating i found my header gasket leaking on the underside. Took me a while to figure it out.

Well this threw a wrench in my plans. I was hoping to get my car on a dyno and finalize tuning before winter and also get some numbers. An acquaintance of mine was going to hook me up with a friend of his that has a DynoJet and let me rent some time. My friend was found dead of a heart attack at 51 sitting at the wheel of his week old 2016 Corvette this week. Now I have to figure out who it is that has the dyno and if I can still swing the deal.

Very sorry for your loss.....that is very young assuming he was in general good health.

However, I have to add that dying behind the wheel of a brand new C7 has to be up there on ways I wouldn't mind checking out! New car smell lingering forever!

Godspeed to your buddy.....he was obviously a performance enthusiast as well

Not much to add as it's been a 4 month sleep but the weather has turned for the better in Michigan and one good rain to wash the salt off and she's out of hibernation. Then I just have a few tweaks and find a dyno to see where this build puts me. She started right up on the first revolution.

Alive!

Sweet build. Looking forward to seeing the results! Really curious what these heads can do.
