The throttle was very responsive and the tires very slippery .
Yeah, I think you're next big problem is traction. Are you running stock tires? I ended up throwing a set of 2012 corvette take-offs to get 305's on the back and help with that.

GTOs suffer from a very limited space to fit wheels and tires. We also have a funky 120mm lug spacing. They came stock with 245s. I had my stock 8" wide 17"s widened to 9" and with fender rolling and a BFH to the inner fender managed to put 285s in along with full poly bushings to hold the wheel in place. Remember we have independent suspension too.

I went to a Nitto NT05 275 now as that was the closest size they offered that works. I've tried drag radials before and the small amount of increase in traction was outweighed by the cost of having to replace them all the time. It's pretty cool out here right now which isn't helping the summer tires either.

Just an update. We finally got some beautiful fall weather, sunny and in the 70s, and I got a little street logging in. It is running very rich (before my adjustment) but I spooled it up to 7 grand in 3rd gear a couple of times and it went quickly and smoothly. I know it's just my butt-o-meter but compared to before it is carrying power way up which is encouraging for big numbers. More work to do and I'm still fighting a little idling issues when coming to a stop. The weather is 180* different than last year and let's hope this hangs on a while.

Where do you live that the weather fluctuates 180° in a year?! Lol.

Good luck fighting those last little gremlins. When do you think you will have some numbers to share with us?

In Michigan it can do that in an hour.

I know it's not an exact science but some of my impression of the heads/cam I get from my VE table fueling. Part of my top end gain is a better valve train but even down lower around peak torque my initial tuning is showing a 10-15% higher fueling rate with these heads from 4,000 rpm on up for the same 12.8 AFR at wide open throttle.

My VEs went up like that as well. I think it's about the best indicator you have short of a dyno jet.

I agree. With more air packing in more fuel is needed to maintain AFR

Congrats on the completion! Any plans to get on a dyno soon? I'm also curious how quiet the valvetrain is with these lifters when set up properly.

Sweet. That's exciting. I'm pumped to see what power you make also. I did the 383 stroker this past winter and the Mamo 220s are sitting on my spoiler now waiting for me to get some time for install. Probably start next week.

Congrats!! Looks great also under the hood also

How is the idle quality and street manners etc?

Do you have that part of the tune dialed in yet?

Really glad to hear its in the car, running well, and the install is behind you!! (most importantly.....LOL)

Cheers,
Tony

Oh course WOT fueling is easy but I've been fighting stalling and surge when coming down to idle. I think I got that ironed out yesterday with more tweaking of idle fueling and air flow related tables. Until I get to a dyno I've set my timing at 26* and I have yet to get any knock at WOT. The street manners are very good. I don't see much difference in that regard from my old cam, just what I wanted. The higher overlap is making my exhaust a little smellier at idle/low rpm but that's it.

I have to get back into the rocker covers as it seems to have tapping that I think is abnormal. Changing cam and rockers make it a little nosier? To be safe I'm going to recheck the rods. I have Lunati (Morel) high rpm, short travel lifters so the preload is pretty light too. I'v been reading that the block grows about .010 when hot and maybe that has something to do with it. Like I said it pulls up to 7 grand in a heartbeat and I have to be careful in the first three gears going WOT or the back end wants to pass the front.

7000rpm is one thing I can't wait for. My setup now tops out at 6400. The graph was a continuous smooth climb so would be excited to see what happens with a set of these.
Still though congrats on getting it back on the road again at least.
