Head question
Hey all, I have a couple questions I'm hoping to get some opinions on. I currently have a 6.0 truck block in a 69 Nova, Stock bottom end, 317 alum heads with dual prc springs, stock rockers with trunion upgrade, stock pushrods, custom ground cam(228/228, .588 lift and 108 lsa), ls6 car intake When I started this project, I was going to turbo the car, but did not due to cost.
Anyway, I've read differing opinions on the 317's on a non boosted motor, and didn't know if it was worth looking at getting a set of 799's or 243's, or simply running the 317's until I build my stroker motor. This will be a mainly street driven car, but I do want to beat on it on the track and possibly attempt drag week next year.
Any opinions or advice, is much appreciated. Thanks all.

If this is going to be naturally aspirated either head will work fine. Though going to 799 or 243 head will gain a little power simply due to the bump in compression. All 3 heads flow the same. It's up to you to determine if the 10rwhp is worth the cost of swapping out the heads. Personally, I would as the power increase will be felt across the entire rpm range.

243's and 799's are the exact same head though, correct? just made in different places? And would either of these heads be worth forking over 800 for a valve and port job?

Why not just keep the heads you have and mill them accordingly. Seems like a lot of work removing the heads, trying to sell them, then having to buy 243/799 heads when the same affect can be achieved by milling your existing heads.
Also, while your at it, look at running a thinner head gasket.
