Default Input on Supporting mods for cam

Hey guys I am picking up a custom grind cam from a co worker and plan on installing it this winter. I know I will need pushrods and valve springs but what else? I was thinking of home porting a set of 243 heads for more flow and more than likely a converter.

Specs on cam (very similar to G5X2)

232/240 duration @ .050 .593/.609 lift cam 114LSA

Current engine mods

LS6 intake
1 7/8" Kooks long tubes
Texas speed 3" true dual exhaust
Chris 101 Ram air
Tune

Was thinking ported 243's a 3,000-3500 stall, new pushrods (Comp 7.4s seem popular?) Springs and a retune. Any other things you guys would recommend? I know its kinda a large cam so I want to make sure drivability does not suffer too bad.

You think stock cubes arent enough? Seems like a lot run the G5-X2 on stock rotating without issue?

I had thought about a ported oil pump and new chain but have been undecided on it. My old Z had a stock pump with a SI5 (Duration @.050 is 231/237, LIft is .589/.595 112 LSA) with good pressure. A chain would be an easy swap as the front cover would be already off for the install.

While you're having the 243's ported, have them milled. Compression helps drive ability.

Don't assume a pushrod length. Get an adjustable and measure. It'll delay assembly by a week but you'll be better off

Definitely measure for pushrods. And I would advise you have the 243's cnc ported for consistency, rather than taking a dremel to them in the garage.

With your plans to remove the cylinder heads I would go ahead and replace the lifters. Better to do it now while the cylinder heads are off rather than not do it and have to do it later. Also while your doing the camshaft swap go ahead and replace the oil pump and consider swapping the stock chain to something like an LS2 replacement. This will be relatively inexpensive and just add to the reliability of your build.

Thanks

You'll need bigger injectors too but don't put them on until your in the tuners parking lot.

I run TSP 233/239 on 112, with 4000 stall, and livernois LS6 heads..

This setup drives very well.. shouldnt have any problems.
