That's pretty stout. The aluminum LS next is awesome but expensive. I'm going to use the iron LS Next block for my next build

Can't go wrong with the iron LS Next other than the additional weight. If my car wasn't so heavy already, I'd be going that route but trying to save on weight were I can. Still not sure on pricing between the LSX bowtie, the LS Next iron, and a RED sleeved 5.3 gen IV all in the 427 for a completely machined block ready to go.

I've done a lot for weight as well. And I'm still not crazy light. There's probably another 200lbs I could get out of my car. Offset the iron block plus some savings

Holy crap man, it been a while since I've been around here... Looks like this project has gone to ludicrous seed lol. Looking good, like the cog set up. What was the mishap with the D1 head unit?

It and Aaron disagreed about whether or not it was a good idea for the impeller to come off mid pull

Darth hit the nail on the head there. I should've sent the D1 in for service but I thought it had been serviced recently. It sounds like a baby rattle now lol. Good decoration/conversation starter for the garage.

Conan, yeah it got crazy waiting for parts so I kept going. That's a Schoneck bracket. It's bad ***. I just don't want to deal with belt slip if I can help it

Ouch, you can add expensive to "decoration/conversation starter" Definitely came out bigger and badder, and that bracket is sweet. Belt slip wont be a worry at all with the cog.

Two weeks ago got the car on the dyno. Had a mishap with the D1 so decided to go with an F1A-94 and I am very very happy with it. The converter is slipping about 15%. I'm assuming it's bc the car is making more power than we expected so it's flashing a little higher. I may leave it be after talking to a few converter places for the style of racing I want to do.

Here's one of the dyno sheets. I lost the last one but it only made a few more hp.

And I went to the track yesterday and got a few passes in

Car ran real good. Blew the intercooler tubing off that run and coasted to a 9.3. 5.7 1/8. 1.30 60'
Just now seen this update. Congrats brother, happy for you! Car is a Beast for sure

Ok so a little update. I went to a shootout this weekend. It was a lot of fun but crazy hot. Hustlers Brawl in Morocco IN. My first no prep. 1/8 mile, arm drop, chase is a race. They scraped the track pretty good overall but it wasn't completely bare. Definitely nothing like a prepped track. So I put a small timing ramp in on suggestion of my tuner and moved my shift points higher. I had two ramps made. One took out 4 degrees and ramped up to normal timing in 1.3 seconds. And one took out 6 degrees and ramped up in 1.6 seconds. I had the latter in the car ready to go because lots of guys weren't hooking. But when I found out I was racing a professional promod racer I went with the 4 degree ramp lol. She'd never done a no prep arm drop but she had a bad *** car and she was definitely a bad *** driver.

Car launched awesome. Spun but felt great. Started going a little right after the timing ramped in but kept it straight and kept my foot in it. I treed her by a touch and she jumped out a little on me and I think she spun because I got out a few cars and she let out. I wanted to run it back later prepped but after 13 hours in the sun and someone oiled down the track we left.

So on to second round. This is where I beat myself lol. So I think the tune was good. I was racing a guy decently fast but my crew (aka one buddy) said I hooked better and looked a little faster in first round. So I figured I'd up my two step by about 300rpm and leave the 4 degree timing ramp in it. Got up to the line. Felt really good. Got a perfect burnout in and usually I roll out of my burnout and click back into first. Some dude stumbled out in front of me so no biggie but I had to hit the brake and forgot to click back into first gear. So needless to say but starting in 3rd I ran pretty slow lol. Started catching him towards the 1/8 but he probably had 6-7 cars on me out of the hole. I thought I blew an intercooler tube off again but they stayed very secure since I had bigger bead welds done on the end and wired them on.

Just a close up vid because we wanted to see what the suspension was doing. But you can see how slow lol. ???♂

But I got some real good data and figured out a big issue I have. My intercooler is too small. First run I started at 110 MAT and ended at 173. Second run I started at 120ish and ended at 180. I'm just learning the Holley tuning software so I didn't figure this out til I got home. It was pulling about 6 degrees of timing by the end of the run. It was 95 degrees out but that shouldn't matter. I have a Treadstone top outlet meant for about 1000hp but the tuner said I'm probably closer to 1200 with the converter slip I have. So I think I'm going to go with a Chiseled Performance 1500hp a2a. I just need to take some final measurements tonight but they said they can have it in two weeks. I'm going to order 4" inlet and outlet. And I'm thinking of using 4"
tubing now too. I was told at one point I'll lose velocity if I don't make enough power. But I don't know if I agree with that and either way I'm making pretty good power now.

I was going to go to the track again this weekend. It's going to be crazy prepped. But it's also going to be the hottest weekend in 7 years here so I think we will play in the lake instead lol

Takes a special kind of dumbass to walk in front of a car doing a burnout. I get not wanting to go behind the car and get sprayed but you can just wait 6 effing seconds....

Sorry man that kind **** throws off rhythm. Especially when you are trying to feel out a new build.

Oh for sure buddy. I just gotta get my routine down well. Would've been easy to click back into first. I just lost track of my routine. And at my track it's not going to change.

Yeah they're coming this weekend. They privately rented the track Thursday and they're running locals all day Friday and Saturday. I'm probably going to go watch with the family one of the days

I ordered the intercooler last Monday, so hopefully it's done next week. Went with Chiseled Performance 1500hp a2a, top outlet angled towards the engine. Should make it easy to replace. I may have to move the radiator and make a new bracket for the ic and rad but it should be straightforward. I got some of the intercooler piping done but now I need the ic to finish. And my bov aluminum fittings.

I decided to order a wastegate as well. I'm thinking that the car is set up pretty well for 1/8 mile right now, shifting about 6900. But if I want to run 1/4 I'm just going limit boost and run the car out to 7900. I think with that and a 28" tire I should be able to run 1/4. I don't know if I'm just going to use a spring or do co2. I might start with spring pressure only and then swap springs and go to co2 if I like the wastegate setup.

Hopefully the intercooler is here in a week and I get that done in a few days and then hit the track to get ready for my race August 17.
