AI 241 or 243's?
Im sure ill be getting on every ones nerves lol but i just cant make up my mind. My build got kinda pushed back with a lot of things happening right now, anyways. Im torn between buying a set of 243's then sending them off for his 232cc which will be better for sure, but i really like the fact of getting 40-50 rwhp from my 241's and have them still say 241's on the side so i can say cam only lol. Also like the fact of keeping stock PTV and bumping up to atleast 11:1 compression with the 241's. His porting on both which are very good, how much would i be leaving on the table vs his 243 if i went 241? Goal is around 450rwhp give or take. Thanks!

I'd say the difference is less than 20 to 30 rwhp. Since you already have the 241's, just send them in for their high compression CNC porting option. Did you ever get a chance to read through these threads?

It won't have 241 on the side anymore. I will let you in on a little secret. Most stock parts have part numbers printed on them. LS heads obviously do. In the automotive world, when you modify a stock part and it no longer fits stock specifications you take the number off the part. As a courtesy to any future owners who may be misrepresented by a stock part number on a non stock part. Perfect example is a ported cylinder head. It could be milled 50 thousandths requiring different length pushrods and the whole deal...far from a stock head. My AI heads have my initials and the date they were ported engraved where the 799 used to be.

Its a toss up lol i bet i could get the 241 number to stay on there if i asked him. I know the 243 is a better casting either way and would open up for more options. Though later down the road, all i would be adding would be maybe a fast and a 150 shot to the ls1. Next build will be boost and 6.0 so my head options wouldn't consist of a 243 anyways.

I would just go with the 241's. AI's ported 241's make some really good numbers, and if you're looking to tell people you're cam only, then that's the logical option. Did you check out any of the threads I posted regarding dyno numbers for guys running the AI 241's?

The difference between the 241's and the 243's will not be the difference between winning and losing in the OP's particular case. Guaranteed.
He says he might put a fast intake on it, maybe a 150 pill of the laughing gas... Not a max effort, kill mode, all-out build... So it would probably behoove the OP to port the heads HE ALREADY HAS, especially if his next build won't be reusing the heads EVEN IF HE GOT THE 243's!

Gotcha. I see people posting times and mph but not always their weight. Then people wonder why their car doesn't run as fast with similar mods lol

Rise of the phoenix, yes i checked out threads, pretty impressive. Thanks! Thanks David on realizing what my goals are. Don't get me wrong the 243's will be better and make a lil more power but not enough to really go and buy some and what not. Especially if I'm gonna spray it later. Really doubt the fact of 10-20whp with the proper drive is really going to make me win or lose. It'll be close. I don't think saying cam only is old. I like surprising people and especially after being on the LSX vs mod page on face book it seems like it would be super full to wax a full bolt on 5.0 and tell them cam only.
