Default Nitrous ported heads

I have read about cylinder heads being ported specific to nitrous applications. What exactly is being done that is different than a traditional CNC porting?

Usually the exhaust port is different. Depends on who does it, but usually the port bigger and the valve job is different to accommodate the power adder.

Yep, like KCS said, the work done to the exhaust port is different/spec'd for a power adder. I've never seen anything specifically done to the intake ports in regards to a "nitrous port".

I've never seen anything specifically done to the intake ports in regards to a "nitrous port".
I'm no porter, but I'd assume that there are things that can be done to an intake port also to make it more nitrous friendly.

A street N/A car needs properly sized ports for driveability and torque all over. On a nitrous car running WOT that's not really going to be a concern, so bigger ports that are designed for pure flow (vs. port velocity) I imagine would work well with big nitrous shots.

TEA (total engine airflow) has a program for their trickflow heads. It's called nitrous exhaust. Flows about 12 cfm more from 400 and up.

Has anyone ever seen any data that demonstrates an improvement with a "nitrous exhaust port"?

Many years ago Gene Fulton wrote an article that emphasized exactly this. I will see if I can find it.

Thinking circa late 90's

He was testing a 632 ci motor.
