I don't even have engine/transmission yet lol. All I've done so far is pull the stock engine/tranny and sell it. Still saving for the 408 and then I will buy tranny. What is your 403 in? And what weight? I ran a 12.3 with a full weight bolt-on ls1 engine with stock cam/ **** heads and a little 3200 stall. So I'm really thinking a 408 with big cam, better heads and a bigger stall should do 10's..

Looks pretty stout. With the right weight and tire setup I would say it should go 10's as well!

Thank you! That's what I'm hoping for! It's in an 86 cutlass 442 so it's a pretty light car. The aluminum block should lighten it up even more. Doesn't have ac and it has billet street lites for wheels. Running a 275/60/15 right now for tire and it has the stock 8.5" 10 bolt with 3.73s

I do not think he still has a 10 bolt.

Anybody know if my valve covers will need to be modified with ls3 heads and what else has to be done for the 408?

You're right. I noticed it a few days after making that post, which is probably long after he ditched it. But he did do a hell of a job going very fast, very reliably on a ten bolt.

senicalj4579 ran 10.9x with a h/c/i SBE with no suspension work at all, 10 bolt, and ss3600 stall, and he drives it 2+ hours to the track, so with a good launch I think you will run in the 10s with that setup. Op, are you going to run the heads stock or have them ported/milled at all?

I'm thinking this should be a solid 10 second car what about you? Will run N/A for quite a while and then plan to hit it with a 100 shot or so.
Another big goal of mine is to also pull the wheels. Any reason I shouldn't be able to do that with this setup N/A?

So I'm sticking pretty close to the original plan. Here is What I have ordered so far.

Engine

Tms 408/l92 heads
BTR .660 Springs
242/254 .620 .612 lift
LS3 intake, LS3 Injectors, and Holley 90mm Throttle body

Transmission
RPM LVL 6
Circle d Triple disc 5c 4200 stall

OTHER:
Weld Rts wheels
Skinny fronts/28" rear
No A/C
No spare.

Things still needed

Torque arm relocation crossmember
SSRA Mega Mouth
MAF of some kind? Undecided
B&M trans cooler

I remember reading about the baffle needing to be removed in order for them to fit. Can't remember which thread i saw it on.

A guy to a dremel and pliers to the baffle and it fit fine afterwards.
