408 build thread 98 ss
So here is the plan
ENGINE:
TMS 408/L92 heads
23x/24x .60x .60x cam
Ls3 intake/90mm TB
FTRA setup
TRANSMISSION:
LVL 5-6 rpm 4l60e
Circle D 4200 Triple disc stall
OTHER:
Weld Rts wheels
Skinny fronts/28" rear
No A/C
No spare.
I'm thinking this should be a solid 10 second car what about you? Will run N/A for quite a while and then plan to hit it with a 100 shot or so.
Another big goal of mine is to also pull the wheels. Any reason I shouldn't be able to do that with this setup N/A?

Not sure iron block will add a little weight, but the car has the light weld rts wheels and removing a/c should help. I wouldn't think it would be anymore then 50lbs more then a stock 98 ss.

Your combo should get you to your goal. Optimized suspension and weight reduction for proper weight transfer should be no problem pulling the front wheels off the ground during launch. Check out the vids on my sig, and thats with just a teeny weeny stock bottom end LT1,lol.

With the old LT1, I was experimenting with what it likes. In the video, I was running a built non lock up 4L60E with a 5500 8" converter. It was a night and day difference from a 4000 stall that I had ran previous.

I will probably go with as big of converter as I can that will alow me to be efficient up top and hold up to a 150 hit. Btw your new setup should be insane!

He has a lot of $ in weight reduction which is not the direction on plan to take. The 10-bolt is just on borrowed time. I have had some luck with them but my last f-body I broke the hell out of one lol. It would be cool to pull the wheels, but at the end of the day if it 60ft's/ET's/MPH's where I want it to I'll be epretty happy. With my tire/stall goals I would say it should be a pretty hard car to beat launching on the street.

Btw I have all the accessories off my ls1 and the valve covera off a 5.3 what all needs to be done to make them fit with the 408 and l92 heads? I know the windage tray needs spaced down. Do I need to modify anything else like valve covers?
