Cool My planned H/C/I setup

Sup guys,

been reaaal busy for a while with my job but finally had some time to order parts and started building a few things at a time.

Ordered the 228r cam kit from texas speed and thats pretty much the basis of the engine build for me. daily with the occassional track time. (road course and a little autox....yes i know my cars setup isnt good for it)

Ive ordered a few other items and am waiting on a few others. Im planning on just porting my ls6 intake, and porting and polishing my 241s with bigger valves for now.

power goals are just 400-450 to the wheels
parts list so far---

TSP 228R (complete kit w/Dual valve springs, 7.4pushrods, etc) @112 LSA
TSP ported LS6 Oil Pump
TSP Double roller hex adjust timing set

Still to order--

TSP 1-7/8 longtube headers
Headgaskets (cant decide on MLS or Cometic)
3.90 Gears
Yank SS3600
bigger valves
Injectors (maybe? not sure if ill need them but was considering 42lbs)
Bigger and ported TB (92mm? once again not sure if ill need it)
TSP 100mm MAF? (maybe)
New water pump of some type (just not an electric one)

::HP Tuners::

and ill be getting a whole new suspension after i break the cam/gears in.
(Koni all the things!!!)

Just wanted to see if you guys had any advice to throw in. I figured id leave this one reliable and not too extreme. Just post up if im missing/forgetting anything that i need to order to rebuild the motor.

More than likely ill forget to order some sensor somewhere, but im hoping to remember most of it in one go. Any critics welcome any 228r expriences welcome as well. as well as if i should buy trunion rockers as well and anything you'd reccommend.

appreciate it folks,

-Nick

Dame you be lucky to get 400 with that cam on a dyno jet. I'll tell you that right now . But if your looking for realiablity and modest hp increase that be an ok cam to go with.

depends on the head work. If the heads are good and the intake, etc, that cam can support 450

228 is a good cam. Little underrated.
I have seen a 6-speed, stock other than a 228R cam, Lid, Longtubes and ORY make 410 rwhp.

Make sure your heads are worked on by somebody that knows what they are doing.
They will make the difference in breaking 400 in an A4; IMO.

I wouldnt go any smaller than the 228 from TSP. Its a great all around cam. I would have stepped up to the TSP Torquer 2 though, and a SS4000 if your going with yank.

Like I said be happy if you make 4 or get close to it if it's a happy dyno jet. Just post up your results after your done and make sure your happy with it. Iv seen so many set ups on dyno jet mustang dyno chassis dyno yad yad. I know what stuff makes . Just bein honest don't want you to get disappointed like many others . For every 1 person that get good results better than expected theres 6 that don't .

oh ive seen a few guys around 400 give or take 10-20hp. so even if i dont hit it i wont be too disappointed. Plus im sure the 3.90s will help make up for the A4.

Im more or less just worried about overlooking something as i start to put the top end together.

I figure at the moment since i have no idea where to go with my stock TB/MAF and intake that they will be my weak points.

The 228r is the first tsp cam im experimenting with for my ls1. I was originally gonna go with the MS4 but decided against it at the last moment.

Figured id try and be civil with this build since i havent roadtripped the car in so long and id hate to stall everywhere at first if it wasnt tuned.

Ive got a Lq4 that will be turned into a supercharged 408 with a massive cam, and im gonna shove that in my c1500.

My buddy has ported 241's with the 228r, Fast 92, long tubes, and all other basic bolt ons. Through a T56 and stock gears he said he made right around 410 rwhp. This gives you an idea. I have to be honest though, it was kind of a dog IMO. We did a 50-125 roll and I beat him pretty bad lol. No driver mod issue or anything like that. The car simply didn't have a lot of grunt

Exactly my point about heads. Well matched heads with that cam are great. Poorly matched heads with that cam are underwhelming. If the heads are milled to gain some compression that will help, but in the end those heads are going to hold it back some. A set of PRC 2.5 706's would be a better choice.

Exactly! His compression was around 10.7 if I remember right, but the heads were done by local place, so who knows how good or bad they really are. Based on on our run it was like as if the heads were stock lol

You cant run a bigger 4 bolt throttle body with an LS6 intake.
