Default Should I go MS3 cam in DD CTSV?

I have a 2004 CTS V, 1 7/8 headers, CIA, 4.10 gears. Plan to keep stock heads for now and stock ls6 intake (will get a FAST intake later on). Saw a new MS3 cam pop up here for sale and jumped on it. Now I'm second guessing myself.

The car is a daily. I do also plan to do some light road racing and drag once in a while. Think I'll be alright with the ms3 and use it since i have it or powerband up too high?

I actually rode in a 04 ctsv with 4.10's and a MS4. It was very drivable after a lot of tuning and a blast on the street

Your gearing helps, and with enough tuning should be driveable on the street.

Is that the best cam for you? Probably not but there's nothing wrong with what you bought.

My cars just a summer toy, but I have a ms3 on a 112 in my ls2 and it could be a daily driver no problem. My buddy just ordered a new ms3 for his ls1 we will be putting in shortly. The ms3 isnt a fancy new custom grind, but it flat out works.

In a heavy CTS-V? For a daily driver?

Hell no.

I daily drove a 408 with a ms4 for 3 years now dd a giant eps cam in a 408. A good tuner can do wonders.

I would say yes, as long as you have a very competent tuner. Your 4.10 gears will help, as others have said.

You mention road racing, so I assume you mean from a roll? If so, the MS3 cam will be well suited for that type of racing.

im about 40 minutes from East Coast Supercharging so id most likely get a dyno tune through them. I have had big cam, carbureted small block daily drivers in the past, all stalled automatics though. As long as i dont get too much surging at low rpm think itll be good.

That is exactly what you are going to get with that cam. If you want something daily driver friendly then look at the Titan IV from cam motion.

I can't speak for the MS3, but like I mentioned above I rode in a car just like yours with a MS4 and there was no surging to speak of and with the 4.10's the car was strong everywhere. I know the MS4 is supposed to be a tad better down low than the MS3, but I'm sure it's a very minor difference

I think most of the people that have had issues with the MS3 and MS4 cam have had very shitty tunes. You can't just dyno-tune that cam; you need to fine-tune it in on the street. You'll be fine with that cam OP. If you've already got it, just run it.

I totally agree. The guy who tuned the caddy that I rode in said that he put a lot of time into tuning it

Just get a custom grind cam from Patrick G on here, you will be WAY more happy with it
