Default timing chain/oil pump

Ok guys I am pieceing together my 408. Running a Texas speed stroker kit. Tick performance custom cam. PRC 247 heads. Just wondering what you guys recommend for a timing set and an oil pump. There's a lot of different options. Trying to see what others on this site have run.

Can't go wrong with that, just make sure you get the cam gear you need.

+1 on the Melling 10296. It fits and gives comforting pressure. Higher mile LS2 gave me 35+PSI hot idle with the stiff spring.

A lot of discussion with the Cloyes tech department convinced me that double chains are not worth the clearance issues. If your budget allows, that $300 hex a just with the badass chain is awesome. But talking with the guys that make the chains convinced me that sub 800HP and sub 7500RPM you won't break a modern factory(LS2 or better) style chain with a proper damper. Adjustability may or may not appeal to you. If you're going to do it all "right" that's nice but if you're just going to hit TDC and install the cam straight up, it's added expense for nothing.

But get the 10296 whatever you do.

Thanks guys. I don't really have a budget so to say. Buying the best parts available no matter the cost...don't feel like building it twice. Lol
