Default Thread lock/Loctite required?

Mods can you change the title to thread lock /loctite required? Autocorrect messed me up. Thanks

I looked on this site and found a post with the correct torque specs for the installed of the new windage tray, oil pick up tube and oil pan on my lq4.

It did not mention using blue loctite on oil pick up tube bolt. Just to torque it to 106 in lbs.

I found another thread recommending the loctite. The engine is still on the stand but the oil pan has been installed with the rtv on the four corners. Should I open up my oil pan and loctite the bolt?

Never had one fall out, but I've always used loctite. It is the lift blood source of the motor and pulling the pan on the stand is not that bad, so I'd say go for it. Better safe than sorry.

Anyone else using the oil pick up girdle? Is it overkill? Thanks

I used the girdle on my 403ci build and figured it was worth the $30 to have the piece of mind that it would seal up and not have any oil pressure issues... It's a well made product... Pricey for what it is... But worth it

Which one do you use? The BRP one or the improved racing one?

Anybody have a preference? One cover the missing side and the other covers both.

Thanks

Loctite isn't required, but it certainly doesn't hurt.

Our girdle applies more even force to the side that's missing a bolt as it clamps down both sides of the flange evenly. The other side is already bolted down, so it isn't really necessary for the the girdle to bolt down to that side.

The BRP one doesn't work on the LQ4 pickup tube. I have it sitting on my shelf collecting dust.
