Launching!

It was recommended by LJMS as a good off the shelf nitrous cam for a carb'd 5.3. It seemed like a pretty good choice given the only good discussion I found about the topic was in this yellow bullet thread:http://www.yellowbullet.com/forum/sh...d.php?t=526846
According to the impeller charts I'm getting close to 300 more hp when I hit the button.
I assume I'm making another 100-150 at the rpm the bottle brings me to. Then the nitrous on top of that

Installed the timing chain tonight. Have a couple of issues I am not sure what I did wrong. 1st the oil pump gear freely slides on the crank. 2nd the chain is touching the oil pump very slightly. I guess i will take it back apart Sunday and double check that the bottom gear is all the way back on the crank. I was also getting tired and did not look to see it the chain was different on the other side. Not sure what to do about the oil pump gear. I reused and old crank key maybe I just need to use a new one.

Don't worry about the oil pump drive, it doesn't really matter if it slides freely.
As far as the chain, sometimes that happens with OEM pumps and double rollers, even with the pump spacers installed. Just take it off and grind a small area where the chain is touching behind the pickup flange. FWIW, the Melling pumps have a small area already ground to clear.

the melling pump comes with the spacers even to clear. I was just checking it all out for my sbe set up yesterday. you went the route I was contemplating and then said screw it lol itll do for now

The melling pump did not come with any spacers. I purchased a 10296 meling select pump. It clears better but I still only have .035 clearance. I am going to check to make sure the crank sprocket is pressed far enough back. If it is I will clearance the pump.

Still waiting on the heads to be finished up. I should have them Friday. Stopped by today and took a few pictures of the progress. Supposed to be milling them tomorrow.

[QUOTE=moekluse;19232697]The eagles I am using are 6.100 in length with a .945 pin. The part number is 6100m3d. You can also get scat in a 6.100 with .945 pins p/n 6100945 or 6100945a with arp2000 bolts. For a 1000 hp build I would upgrade the rod bolts at least to arp2000 bolts.

Didn't get a lot done tonight dealing with a sick little one. Drilled the new lifter trays. Should have taken pictures. Also don't try it without a unibit. Lifters are installed. I also got the rear cover on. If every thing goes to plan I will degree the cam, check piston to valve, and get the heads on tomorrow.
