Default Nitrous 5.3 build

Finally got all my parts back from the machine shop and I am ready to start putting it together. The build so far consists of:

5.3 iron block
Stock crank
Eagle H beam rods
Weisco pistons and rings
Arp main and head studs
Nitrous ported 706 heads milled .042
Brian Tooley Springs
Ljms stage 4 ls3 cam
Holley single plane intake
Holley xp 750 e85 carb
Stinger plate.

I bought ls7 lifters but i really want to put something better in it.

Made some more progress this week. Cam, Crank, Rods, and Pistons are all installed. Installed the block plugs this morning. Need to find a socket big enough for the large one still. Also put the new valley cover on just to see how it looks.

Waiting on the machine shop to mill my heads. Will have head studs monday. In the mean time I found someone with a allen key to fit the big block plug and I wrinkle coated the front cover.

Thanks! I have heard nothing but good about the stinger plate. Got my trunion upgrade done tonight. It was easier than I thought it would be with the help of a friends 200 year old press.

subbing to this one.

What are your power goals? How much nitrous are you going to be spraying?

What rings did you go with?

Whats your Piston to wall, and your ring gap?

I honestly don't know what to expect N/A as far as power. I would like to see at least 600 whp on the kit. I used the rings that came with the junk yard dog pistons. The rings are gapped for a 300 shot. If i am remebering right it was .0265 on the top ring and a little larger on the 2nd. Piston to wall is what weisco recommend to my machine shop. He did not write it down, but he had to hone the block to get it right.

Thank you for the information. I have a 5.3 in my jet boat thats currently a SBE with ARP bolts that i want to forge.

I am considering sticking with stock displacement, basically the same build as yours but some differences to the combo.

I want to run somewhere between a 250-300 shot reliably. Currently spraying a 150 and it takes it like a crack *****.

Reason you went with the wiseco's over something from carrillo?

Also, which Rods are you running? I do not see any Eagle 6.098" rods to go with those pistons.

Only finding K1 rods

I originally bought the pistons to use with stock rods. Then I let the budget get out of control and bought all the arp studs and the eagle rods. The rods are actually 6.100 with .945 pins. I was told the extra .002 would not make a difference.

The top edge of the piston comes is even with the deck. The highest part of the dome comes .092 above the deck. The valve reliefs are well below the deck but i couldn't position the dial indicator to get an accurate reading from there. I should have the heads in rhe next few days to check piaton to valve.

If i am doing the math right my heads should be 54.5 cc after they are milled and compresion should be 12.2:1

Let me know how your quench and ptv comes out.

The stock pistons with my BTR stage 4 na ls1 cam the ptv is very close.

A reason you went with the ls3 cam? The extra exhaust duration I am assuming?

It was recommended by LJMS as a good off the shelf nitrous cam for a carb'd 5.3. It seemed like a pretty good choice given the only good discussion I found about the topic was in this yellow bullet thread:http://www.yellowbullet.com/forum/sh...d.php?t=526846
