Should I be worried?

I am doing a heads/cam install and when taking things apart I found one rod which was badly bent and gunky mud underneath the intake manifold on the alley cover and heads. I'm replacing all these items, however, I was worried if this is showing there is something wrong with the engine. It was running just fine with no problems that I knew about.

When you say rod, do you mean a push rod or a connecting rod? I'm assuming a pushrod. Have any pics?

I've pulled a ton of slightly bent pushrods from stock motors. How bad was the bend?

EDIT: missed the picture, that's pretty bad...I would be concerned about the valve being bent as well if it's from an overrev

I'm putting new heads on with new valves so that should take care of a possible valve issue

That's pretty bad. You're replacing the pushrods and installing new heads/valves? You'll probably also see an eyebrow impression on that piston when you remove your heads. Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it since you're replacing these parts. Just chalk it up as a good reason not to miss a shift and move on with life.
