LS Stroker

LS Stroker
I am building a 69 chevelle, doing a conversion, I can't stand the thought of not putting a 396 ci or bigger in my factory bbc car. So naturally, I have a few questions regarding building an LS big inch motor.
I have done some research and found that I can't use a 5.3 if I want to have a bigger bore then a 3.908 or about and that's if I only build this thing one time because it won't go any bigger if I wear it out. So then, naturally one would jump to a LQ4/9 block. But then a 396 ci is out unless some one out there makes a crank for it. Does anyone make cranks that are not 3.622, 4.000, and 4.125. I can't find one.
The stock 396 bbc is a 4.095(?) bore and a 3.760 stroke. Why hasn't anyone done this with an LS block before? It seems to me that you would get the same CIs as the old engine for nostalgia purposes and eliminate piston slap at the btdc of the stroke that you get with the 4.000 stroke.
Am I missing something or has no one ever done this because there are no parts out there? Does anyone make a crank that is 3.760ish and a piston that is a 4.095ish size?
Thanks guys.

Not too many budget options, but it can be done with a 4.100" bore and 3.750" stroke crank. Nostalgia isn't cheap.

Why not build a more common 402 and then just tell everyone its a .030 over 396? GM did this in several cars, badged them as 396 or even 400 and then installed a 402. If the General could pass it off, why couldn't you? (I know, I know... you would always know the difference, I totally get it.)

Can you run the Manly 4.100" crank in a 5.7 block at .030" over...???
397...but you could call that a "396"
I know my 1970 SS "396" actually came with a "402"...
Which would be the 6.0's 4.00" stroke with a 4.00" crank...???

I have thought about that as well. 4.000 bore and stroke would be cool. But then I'd have to find out buy a new block. And still have the issue of piston slap.
