Default Extreme Budget Build

Hello everyone!

I am very new to these forums so I will start this off by giving you guys some info. I am 18, still in high school, and I'm working on an $9.00/hour salary with an occasional $500-$1000 worth of roofing money. So like the title says, extreme budget.

My goal for this build is to be able to easily kill a newer Mustang or Camaro and with good daily driven ability.

This is the list I have built up so far.
-LS6 Intake.
-Craigslist or Ebay LT's.
-ON3 Performance 3" Catback
-Tsp 224r .600/.600 112 lsa camshaft and supporting valve train.
-ls7 lifters
-ls2 timing chain
-Ford Racing Green top 42lb injectors
-Underdrive pulley
-3.73's
-Nitto NT555 G2 275/40r17

I will be picking up a 2000 M6 Z28 with 116,xxx on the clock within the month. My future goals are some cheap ported 5.3 heads and maybe a bit of nitrous but other than that I plan to stay cam only for awhile. Any tips to point me in the right direction are greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help!

Don't automatically settle for an off the shelf cam, talk to a few vendors about your goals and mods to be and then see what cam suits you best. And go speed engineering 1-7/8 headers

I would definitely do some more research on a camshaft. The 224 is really small. Keep an eye out in the parts classifieds here. You can pick up all kinds of deals if your patient

Go larger on the cam, eBay Potz ported throttle body, and Speed Engineering 1 7/8s longtubes. To swap the lifters you will have to pull the heads. If you're lifters are in good shape, I would leave them until you are ready to pull the heads. If you feel you need to swap the lifters, I would hit up Brian Tooley for some Morel 5315s over the LS7 any day. Cam only plus a NX proton kit (very budget minded nitrous kit) on the 150 pills will get you in the range of 550rwhp safely on a stock bottom end.

I would look at some 4.10 gears as well if it's a 6 speed it will help just be easy on that 10 bolt.
