Default broke a comp cams double spring

...this one was in the car +10 years, so I can't complain.

cam is a mild street - 220/220

...anyway I ripped the head off to check for bent valve, piston damage.... all checked out ok....

What kind of noise did you hear that made you think the spring was broken

noise was a valve train crunching noise, I believe... spring had about 50K miles... ...very lucky no damage to pistons/valves,,,,

Sounds like a good catch.

Given the other valve springs have a similar amount of wear and use on them, have you considered replacing all of the valve springs while your into the motor?

...yeah, I thought a bunch about doing all new 16 springs.....

....did not do this because the cam is not too big..... hoping the other old springs do not start popping like corn???

I would change all the springs. Doesn't matter what the lift is, if one broke the rest may not be too far behind. Spring sets are pretty cheap. 200.00 for springs or a new engine rebuild when you aren't so lucky when the next one breaks.

What edits?....What are you talking about?... You must be drunk

As far as the OP is concerned take peoples advice and change all the springs, If one broke already you're asking for trouble by not changing them all.

Yes. Spring life is limited by fatigue cycles. They all went in at the same time and have the same number of cycles. You should changed them all. You were luckier than many. You got a warning shot before the grenade. Don't let the grenade detonate
