Default Is this cam usable?

Is this cam usable? All the lobes are fine but it looks like a tiny chip in the center of the second to last lobe. Im buying new lifters and its all going on a bone stock 5.3. No boost or anything. Is it useable?

I have the stock cam out of my 99 Trans Am if you are interested. Most on this site, including myself, would recommend upgrading the cam if you are going through all the work of replacing it.

You know.. iv noticed a lot of these Ls cams seem to always get this on those last two lobes, wonder whats up with that.. bad oiling on those last two ?

But yeah man if that cam is stock throw it.. but if it were a after market performance cam ha id totally try and harbor freight welder that thing and use a angle grinder on it and then sand to a polish hahah..

Iv got a sock 4.8 and two 5.3 cams .. but id totally go after market though man or try and find ya a ls6 cam for cheap.. less like me and money is an issue, let me know if you want and ill see what i can do, free.... you pay shipping...

I agree with this, if you're going to change it, at least get like a little 224r, 228r cam or something like that instead. But I have my 01 ls1 cam that has 15,966 miles on it. I don't see myself ever using it again, but I'd upgrade to an aftermarket one if it were me. Jmo

Its junk, but even more than that, did you really have to ask? Sorry, but it should be a no brainer.
