LS3 heads on LM7?

Default LS3 heads on LM7?

I'm sure this has been asked before but after searching I couldn't find a definitive answer. I'm building a twin turbo LM7 and was looking at doing valvetrain upgrades. Instead of porting the LM7 heads, putting in new springs, retainers etc. I was thinking of just buying some of the Chevrolet performance heads since they come complete and ready to rock. PN# Chevrolet Performance 88958758

My question is the specs say they need a minimum 4.0 bore but the stock bore is 3.78 and this trucks. Will this work or will I run into problems?

That's a bummer. So my option would be to CNC the LM7 heads and upgrade the valvetrain?

I keep hearing about small bore LS3 heads. I don't know if they are aftermarket, or GM. Might look into that. Or put a 4.8L crank in a 6.0L block. Will give you a short stroke screamer. Or just use a 6.0L.


Looks like the small bore LS3 heads may be GM. Prob wont bolt to regular heads since they have 6 bolt configuration.

The small bore stuff still requires a 3.90" bore. At 3.780" bore, the 4.8L/5.3L engines are pretty much stuck with cathedral heads unless you punch the block out to 3.90".

If you're building a stock bottom end car, its pointless to upgrade heads.
