Cammed ls1 engine shaking.
Yes but that does not mean there is not a problem...as previously mentioned, when fuel trims are extremely positive @ idle +20%, that can potentially indicate a vacuum leak. Aside from that, some tuners turn off LTFT on cam cars with a decent amount of overlap. Short Term is what matters most, Long Term is there to correct for aging sensors.
Honestly I have no clue all I can say is I'm glad they're free to replace. maybe msd didn't know the material used was sensitive to gas or maybe it was a bad batch of gaskets, never got much of an answer from them.
In my buddy's case it had absolutely nothing to do with the car being put together wrong. When he went to a new tuner, he found several things wrong with the tune. One being the car was knocking like crazy. Now that's just plain stupid
I don't know why people just can't accept the fact that some guys just aren't that great at tuning and that there may only be a few isolated incidents. But, if there are more than a few that end up being because of the tune and causing serious problems, then why risk your car on it? I sure wouldn't!
You know how many people around me that told me I'm crazy for driving to Kansas to get my car tuned after my tuner Dave Steck moved to Texas? A lot! They kept on telling me to use Shane H or go to PBJ, that they are awesome. I'm not getting into the specifics, but I know enough about the builds that went to them and the outcome that I wasn't risking my car on them, or the other few that were mentioned to me.
Your build is only as good as your tuner, so take that for what you will. But if I have thousands wrapped up in my build, I'm not risking it with someone that has a reputation for things going wrong, after they are supposedly legit now and doing it professionally now. They may tune a hundred cars with nothing go wrong. But then they get a high dollar build that isn't a cookie cutter build that they have copy and pasted/cut up parts of other peoples tunes to make a basic one that works for the majority of builds, and now have to start tuning out of their knowledge and expertise. That's when it goes bad.
HCI2000SS knows enough about cars to know if it's a good build or one just thrown together.
I don't know Dr. Phil, but I know enough tuners that sound just like him. I know the cars that went to the ones around me and had nothing but problems, and the ones where the motor blew on the dyno. I can assure you that it was nothing to do with how the car was put together.

Thanks man! Just to be clear I'm not saying this guy is horrible tuner overall....if he was he wouldn't have the overall rep that he does. What I am saying is that in my buddy's case he did in fact screw up....pretty bad too. There's no way in hell he could be so ignorant, otherwise no one would go him anymore, but with my buddy's ride he must have simply done a quick and dirty tune, so he could go on to something else. Either way, he paid for a quality tune and did not get one, and this is completely unexceptable. Not to mention a blown motor
You also have to take in consideration how the situation is handled after the fact too. Unfortunately, tuners do get a bad wrap when things go wrong, even if it was because of a bad build. So you have to use some judgment on your part to figure that out for yourself. Go with your gut feeling, and if you start having any doubts at Any time (even strapped to the dyno), kill the pull and go elsewhere. If you feel comfortable, then go ahead with it.
Everyone for the most part is smart enough to weed through the bs stories and the truthful ones to know if you are going to a reputable place. I did research, posted on forums, talked to people that had their cars tuned by them, and the whole 9 yards before I decided to drive over 4 hours. I would have driven more if I had to though, for piece of mind.
I agree completely man and that's basically all I was trying to say too. They are in business for a reason, but once you are doing it for a living and you have more than a few incidents of these type of things happening, that's enough for me to go somewhere else. I don't care if they have tuned hundreds, or thousands of cars with no problems and 100% satisfied customers. I am not willing to put my build on the line for those odds.

Here's another example of a well known tuner around me that tuned this Camaro. This car is roughly 300lbs lighter than mine, his stall is a 4000 vs my 3600, his cam is a torquer v3 231/234 vs my tsp 233/239, both ls6 intake, both had the same size headers, same stock heads, same gears, and both on drag radials. There is no reason that his car shouldn't have yanked mine pretty good. Well one of our buddies looked at his tune yesterday he said it is one of the worst tunes he has ever seen. I have buddies that run this guys tune and love it, but I also have buddies that have horror stories too.
This video explains it and this guy is well known in this area, and is also known and recommended by some people on this site, as well as a lot of people around here. I wish I still had this cam, it was a decent running car back then. There's no reason that a lighter Camaro with a little weight reduction vs a full weight t/a with almost identical mods should have had this outcome. I couldn't even hear the honls and left when I saw him move.
Edit: Before anything is said, that's a 55mph zone which is less than a half mile to the highway on ramps. Not residential!
Edit:2 I also have a buddy that had this same guy build his motor and then he procharged it and had this same guy tune it. He is happy with it and it does run good, but he spent a lot of money there, so I'm sure he spent more time on the tune.

Like I said, I am not knocking him, nor the guys around me, I just choose to go somewhere else myself. I'm glad that your tune worked out for you man and it could have very well worked out for hundreds of others that are happy.

"That WS6" is my car...
I can show you all the build mods, pics, videos, and anything you request back when I was cammed. I'm boosted now, but I can assure you, that what I said was true.
What else do you have?
I have receipts, pics, vids, or anything you need to dispute that video or my car. Most are on my youtube channel for all to see. Here's where I leave an "LOL", No?
Edit: As a matter of fact, I can give you pics or anything you want on both cars, he lives right by me. Everything done on my car has been documented before I got it, with 11,613 miles on it, up to now through two builds and 22k miles on it.

Hey man I been in the ls game too long. Whats the camaro's best et? A lot of factors can play drivers skill, the convertor manufacturer even down to basic maintenance. Go to whatever tuner you like. I only commented because Dr Phil has my car flying with excellent drivability.
As far as what converter his car has, does it really matter to you? I mean, so far everything that I have told you, you have basically told me that I was lying, so it doesn't really matter what I tell you about the cars.
I posted that video becauseit was tuned Ed by a "reputable" tuner in St Louis and a buddy of mine looked at his tune last week and found it to be one of the worst tunes he has seen on a car. So no matter what brand of converter he has, it isn't going to cost him that much in a race when he is 300lbs lighter than me. That's roughly 30rwhp to make up a 300lb difference at those power levels. Even if a converter was to eat up 30rwhp over mine, the race should have been a dead heat. He got the hit on both races, and I still pulled him easily.
I'm glad that you are happy with his tunes and I am sure he did a good job on your car, or you wouldn't be defending him like that. There are alot of guys that defend the guy who tuned this Camaro too, but they didn't get a junk tune like this guy did. Every car should have the same effort put in it to be tuned as all of the rest.
When you tune alot of cars and do alot that have close to the same builds, then you can almost tune it without even seeing it. When I did my turbo build last year, I sent my pcm to my tuner, he put a base tune on it so I could drive over 4 hours to get it tuned by him. The tune felt dead on to me as far as drivability and probably would have been close on wot too. But when I got there, he took the car and did some street logs, did a little tuning, then did the dyno tune, and then we both went out and he made sure the street tune was in check. We put the car through the paces and I felt good about it when I left that place. But what about the tuners that just throw a base tune on someone's car based off of their mods and other similar cars they've tuned and don't even spend any other time on it because they are backed up so they just send it out?
It happens, whether you like to believe it or not.
How long you have been in the ls game doesn't apply to what we are talking about. We have already stated that a tuner may do a hundred good ones and then not spend much time on one for whatever reason, ending with bad results. After a few of those kind of tunes, some of us prefer to not go to them. But, we also stated that if you're happy with them, by all means go. We prefer to go elsewhere.
