Default No crankshaft bolt?

When removing my TC today I go to turn the flywheel via the crankshaft bolt and to my surprise it's not there. First question is it held on by anything without that bolt? Second question I don't see any threads for the bolt either, pic attached. Not sure what to do here.

I came across this one time, The person who owned it said the bolt pulled the treads out while putting the balancer on and he ran it that way for a couple years. Looks like yours has been that way for a while too.

The damper is a friction fit and the bolt holds it on. It's a good thing that it didn't come off and the bolt looks like it's still in there, minus the hex head; you need to get in there to look. If the head broke off, it going to very hard to remove. Try welding on bolt to get it out, but crank bolts are really tight.

Looks like you got lucky and the bolt did not break off in there, stick a screwdriver
in hole and see how deep it is, hopefully it will be about 4 1/2" if so, get to work with the
time-sert.
Personally I would not drive it, because it seems like if I know there is a problem with
something and hope for the best, It doesn't work out for me. But saying that it might last forever. Do you feel lucky.

If you pull it off the crank for any reason you won't get it back on without internal threads. Just drive it. Put a small punch mark on the snout of the crank and the damper and check it with a mirror once in a while make sure it's not slipping. It's about a .0015-.002" press. Or, get a timesert kit and fix it as mentioned here.

The threads don't come all the way to the front or the crankshaft. Like others said stick a screwdriver or something like it down the hole and see if its about 4.5" deep. If the hole is clear buy a $10 reusable LS balancer bolt from JEGS and see if it will thread in. If it threads in, put red locktite on the threads, and torque to 200 ft/lbs.
