Default LS1 Motor for FREE?

This is a gf's family member's motor. The motor dropped a valve on cylinder 1. The 1st picture is a crack. I don't know if this is repairable and if so, how to repair it. The motor has been outside since 2012 so the cylinder walls have a lot of rust. just wondering if i can get this thing into running condition again. The second picture is actually a video head inspection and it's tap to play.

It can be repaired, how ever it's going to be costly.

You're probably better off dropping it off at a metal recycling center. The heads alone should be $40-60 in raw aluminum. It can absolutely be fixed but the route you'd probably want to go is have the whole thing resleeved. At least $2k. If it were left in a garage for 4 years it would be a totally different story.

thats unfortunate, the repair cost to sleeve and repair cracked wall, including decking the block and a new/repaired rotating assembly (Assuming the block caps are not rusted beyond spec as well) would be well beyond what a used good block would cost. Looks like the lifter bores have corrosion inside of them as well, not good.

Crank might be salvageable, possibly rods as well, that head as long as its not too ate up might be fixable too.

Reminds me of a perfect Pontiac 400 engine friend took out of a old GTO to do restoration work. Left it out side for 10 years then asked me to look at it.............................................com plete junk

What do people think about darton sleeving the block and getting bored out pistons , rotating assembly?

Well sure if the sleeve design you pick goes all the way to the water jacket AND that block isn't compromised anywhere else. Have you priced the sleeves and labor? You're in like $3K+ I think, just for the block itself. Unless this block has high sentimental value or super powers, seems like a steep climb financially. Like modifying a Camaro by making the keys for the Camaro fit in a ZR1.
