Has anyone installed studs for the rocker arms instead of using the stock bolts? Seems to me it may be a good way to get it sealed up.

I don't see how that would seal the threads. You would still need a sealant.

Right, but you'd be able to install the studs with a hardening sealant, while nothing is in the way. Then you're not disturbing the sealant when you install the remainder of the valvetrain.

i believe ARP makes a stud kit for the stock rockers. seems like a good idea and save the threads if you take the rockers in and out a lot

Yes they do. But still coat the threads of the stud that go into the head.

I use GM thread sealant on the intake rocker bolts. It works for small/big block head bolts and oil pressure/water temperature sending units. I just make sure the hole and threads are clean and dry before using it and let it set up overnight to make sure it seals good.

My camaro was having smoke at start up and idling until input red permatex on my ported heads rocker bolts. This was done about 8k miles ago. Recently my car has been having the same symptoms. Does the permatex eventually need to be redone to the bokts? Is it possible i didnt put enough in?
