Default Do You Flow Heads With Rocker Stud In Or Out ??

Do most flow heads with rocker bolt in or out?

Notice any flow changes?

If rocker stud boss in port is removed exposing bolt hole than i test with bolt to plug it.

Thanks LSwonderful, thats what I thought. If bolt hole is not exposed there would be no reason to plug it.

I wonder if it's worth grinding back the excessive engagement and then filling the void. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

IMO, the way we test them here is with the rocker bolt in and the intake manifold bolted on, then intake removed for the raw CFM values. With the rocker stud installed while testing on the flow bench is the way there run on the car so that would be most accurate. Hope that helps?

Joe.

The hole is plugged when I'm testing cause that's where I bolt my indicator. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Thanks for all the replies.

It is good to know that with the hole exposed most will plug it because you can get better flow numbers with it unplugged.

Of course we all run rockers so when heads are installed the hole is filled with rocker bolt.

JPR,that is the way to flow the heads and a great quality way of doing it.

Has anybody ever checked (on a flowbench) how much is gained by smoothing out that stud boss? And also, at what lift it would make a difference.
