Default Needle roller found on sump plug

Hi
I have found what looks like a roller from a needle roller bearing attached to the sump plug. Dimensions are approx 1mm diameter by 6mm in length, anyone know what it could be from, engine sounds a bit knocking? Thanks in advance.

Probably dozens of threads here about this issue. Here is mine.

Rocker needle bearings MIA – more tear-down or run it?

I rebuilt my rockers using the Straub bushing kit.

Good luck.

Thanks for your help guys. Only just changed the flex plate after a rebuilt AC Delco starter housing broke and chewed the teeth up, now this but at least I'm not crawling under it this time. What rockers are best for reliability?

The good the bad and the ugly.<br/>Found 2 bearings gone, going to sweep the sump with a magnet to try and find the missing needle rollers.

WOW. I'd keep your fingers crossed for a while. LOL. And chance of pulling the motor out and pulling the covers to have a look see?

A gold star to Tmax for correctly guessing where the needles came from. From the markings on the cage it had seized some time before letting go completely. Total time to jack up the cab, pull the working gears and the gear box off 2 hours and very straight forward. I am going to replace the bearings on the fork, 5th gear synchro and button it al back up. It would be a great gag to stick a few needles to your buddies magnetic drain plug just to see the expression on his face when he next drops his oil.

Id suggest dropping the pan and giving it a good clean out. That's a lot of foreign metal to be in your system bud.

Check out the Straub trunion bushing thread, its an easy DIY if you have mechanical capability and some basic tools.
