Default LS1 performance mods

I have a 2000 LS S Z28 that I want to build up. What are people doing or have done? Texas Speed had a nice 383 stroker kit. Thoughts?

Really depends on budget and intended use. Does the car currently have any mods? Is the car an automatic or six speed?

if your shortblock is in decent shape, heads, cam, intake, exhaust, and tune can get you well into the 11's while still retaining streetability. How fast do you want to go?

yeah that's what I have been looking at. Curious to see what others have done and get opinions before making this decision. Just want to make sure I make the right choice.

It's for fun. Want to enjoy track days. And want a bad *** ride that's rowdy.

There a lot of different directions to go. If the car is completely stock I would consider installing an aftermarket lid, and longtube headers to start. Then beyond that a camshaft swap, and gear change. Keep in mind though with a stock 10-bolt rear you will be on borrowed time if you plan on putting a sticky tire on it and getting aggressive with launches. Of course something else to consider as you start to make more power is a clutch swap.

Most starts usually begin with the following (budget depending of course):

1) LS6 intake
2) Longtube Headers
3) Cam
4) Heads
5) Y-pipe or True-Dual setup/muffler
6) Suspension
7) Gears
8) Tires
9) Clutch
10) Rear (9" or 12 bolt, most common swaps)

Never ending list really haha. Do you plan to stay N/A or introduce a power adder to your application?

Lid, Cam, Springs, Headers, 3 Inch Exhaust, Cut-outs, new clutch and a 125 wet shot.

Launch easy until you can get a stronger rearend.

I had a friend put in decent cam, Lid and headers and trap 120 w/M6 SS. All else stock.
I had another friend put in 125 wet shot and trap 122 w/M6 TA. - All else stock
