I recently put a new motor in a friend of mines 98Z28... Everything went good, we started it up yesterday for the first time. It started on the first try.. But while its running the oil pressure is around 10psi. You can take it to about 2000 rpm. & it will run about 15psi. So what should I look for to fix this problem? BTW we put a new oil pressure sensor on, so I know thats not the problem..

If you are absolutely sure the pump is seated correctly I would have to say 2 things a bad pump, or most likely its the o ring? I assume you replaced the o ring with a new one but what could have happened it may have not seated squarely. I would remove it and look at it. Definetly don't mess with low oil pressure.

I couldnt tell you if it had a new oil pump, or if the ring is seated or what.. They took the block/trans. & had all of that assembled at a machine shop, all we had to do was put it in the car... Ill make sure I tell him to have that checked.. Is there anything else I need to have them check?

I dont know.. I just put the motor in the car & hooked everthing up.. I was just wanting to see if there would be an easy fix, without having to drop the oil pan or trans.. If tedscamaro is still on then maybe he'll chime in.. It is his car.. How would you check to see if the plug is in? (just curious)

You would have to drop the tranny, pull the rear cover out. Ask the person who assembeled it, see if they remember installing the plastic plug? Do you get oil on the rocker arms, you should be able to see that by pulling the filler neck out. If you see oil pumping, then the plug is in it.
