Question using 2002 5.7 LS1 parts on 2001 LQ4 6.0

Just picked a 2001 Silverado lq4 6.0 engine 100k miles supposedly. I also have a fresh machined ls1 with a cracked block deck. The machine shop where I had the work done would not repair their. But that is a separate issue . Question is what parts can be used with the cast 6.0 truck block I heard the heads, cam, intake, and rotating assembly with exception of pistons? My lS1 heads are stamped 243 are in good shape, fresh polished crank std size journals, new rod and main bearings just sitting on a bench waiting to be used. Are the power gains worth tearing the Lq4 down, and swapping parts around?

with only 100k on the 6.0 its probably not worth tearing it down. You will gain alittle added compression swapping to the 243's but the ports are about the same. But yes all the parts would swap except the pistons. Dont know what cam you have so hard to say what kind of gains could be made.

yup everything but the pistons. if it's a runner, just swap the cam and whatever misc. hard parts like springs and pushrods and stuff. if you have other new stuff from the bad ls1 build, might as well swap 'em out. it sure aint gonna do no good sitting on a cracked block. you could hunt up some flat tops and use your 243's to build an "iron LS2"

pretty much any cam is better than the stock truck cam.

sorry about your luck on the 5.7. sounds like you are moving forward though. thats the only way to be.

Thanks guys for that info, hated to give up on my aluminum lS1 but that's the breaks sometimes. Gotta roll with the punches, found a screaming deal on a 6 liter and had to have it. It came complete with harness and f.e.a.d for $800? Oh yeah merry christmas
