You will see more of a gain from headers with heads/cam than stock internals

I appreciate everyones input! Honestly I was thinking 360 RWHP, but anything on top of that would be sweet. I know not getting headers will hold me back, but I've decided to make that sacrafice. I definitely plan on having it tuned (by a sponser and going to use a sponser for installation as well). Anyway, I'm now just saving some each month, figure I will go this route in dec-jan. By then the value the heads should be well established as well. Although if I had the cash now I wouldn't hesitate to try them.

Damn you almost got me on that one, however please read again.

Just received this info today! They saw over 36+ horsepower increase with the Dynatech F-Body header system and y-pipe compared to factory 98-up stock manifolds and y-pipe system on a slightly modified LS-1 motor.

Appearently it was more than just headers. The Y pipe was changed as well.
I am still impressed and will now admit it is possible but not likely.
I have to remember anything is possible.

Sure - look at SLP's parts catalog - I believe they say 40-50 horsepower from their headers

It's in print so it's gotta be true - lol

When you change the stock manifolds out to headers, you have to change the ypipe. Other than shorties, which are a waste of money, every single header has their own ypipe that joins the header collectors to the intermediate pipe going to the catback.

JZ

The AFR test car has dynoed at the L.A.P.D, LGM and I believe it was at A&A Corvettes just recently and Tony M. even challenged people to come see for themselves. I think its more than just a fluke.

From what EDC and CStraub posted the cam in Tony's car was a grind designed to work with the heads. Goes to show what can be achieved when the parts are designed to work together.

All the info has been posted on this board or on the corvetteforum.com.

I am not saying it is a false statement or untrue.
My point was that Thunder's car made 451 with the T rex and there have been an extreem amount of people that have installed the T-Rex also without the same or even close to power.
I just want to see more cars with AFR heads before I make my decision on how good they are.
I really hope they are as good as what they are supposed to be.
Again I am also not saying the Tunder car was a giant lie. I believe their car really produced the power they said it did. However it was a fluke because of how many other T rex car there are without that much power.

Please dont get me wrong my fingers have been crossed for months hoping that AFR's heads will kill the competion.
I only want to see the LSx wrold geting faster as I am in no way a stang fan.

That is a huge difference.

However I like the try and will still send you a big mack. Is regular ground okay?

Not true. The stock Y pipe flows very well.
A local here has Jet hot LT's and his stock Y pipe.
In fact the only thing he changed is his muffler.
Everything else is stock. Never gets loud until he opens the cutout.
